Monday through Wednesday was a normal work week, and I was anxious in making sure I had everything ready for the trip this weekend, marking lines through each reminder I had written down in my planner that I had taken with me everywhere. The poor thing was already worn out, and it was only March! I was naturally an anxious person, feeling like I needed to have everything under control as much as I could. I ensured that my finances were in order and that I had direct access to my savings just in case I needed extra money, as well as withdrawing a few hundred dollars of cash just in case I couldn't pay with my credit card. I felt better knowing that Sam was coming along with me as it was not only going to be a long drive, but I had a peace of mind and someone willing to help me with the horses, even if he was terrified of them.
Zak had kept me up to date about his filming schedule since he and the guys were already in Heritage Junction, letting me know that it was highly likely that he was going to come to the rodeo this weekend to watch me, and to say I was nervous was an understatement!
When Thursday evening rolled around, I packed up my laptop and mobile phone for my job with haste, grabbing my already-packed bag and securing it in the truck, my suitcase taking up half of the back seat while Sam's guitar case lay securely in the floorboard followed by a small tote bag that housed everything he ever owned.
"You ready to hit the road?" Sam smiled, a bright smile beaming on his face.
"I sure am! But I'm nervous about traffic. Zak gave me a full warning that my route will take me through Las Vegas, and traffic can get pretty bad at night."
"We'll be fine, girl," Sam shrugged. "I'm glad that Zak at least warned you about it, though. We should drive down the strip!"
"...With a dually truck and thirty-foot long trailer?" I scoffed, arching my brow. "I highly doubt that."
"Bitch if you don't," He teased. "You can drive that horse yacht anywhere."
"True, but I can't see the best at night, but we'll see how it goes with my GPS."
"What all do we have left to do aside from loading the horses?"
"Just to put their hay nets up and water buckets. I already put shavings in there last night and made sure I had all of my rodeo shirts and jeans in the living quarters. They're all in their stalls waiting to just be loaded up."
"Always have things planned out," Sam shook his head with a smile. "And here I was thinking you were awful about being on time somewhere."
"When it involves competing, I'm always on time, even a day early!" I laughed, pulling out my phone to check and ensure that I received a confirmation email as well as a phone number to contact in regard to the reservation I made for the temporary boarding facility.
