Accepting Zak's offer was probably one of the most difficult, yet refreshing decisions I could've made for myself. It took a few weeks to give him a solid answer – well, more like months. I loved my job keying in information at the insurance firm, but it was starting to get more difficult to manage now that I was under a lot of pressure from the PRCA when I accepted the circuit invitation. When I made my final decision at the beginning of September, Zak was generous enough to let me shadow Jay when he did his research for the show, letting me get a good idea as to what exactly I would be doing, and I didn't feel as overwhelmed when I was able to do some of the work myself to see how I would like it.
Season twelve's second episode was scheduled to air on October 11th, the episode taking place at the Zozo House in Oklahoma.
The rest of the summer and early fall consisted of Zak joining me for a lot of my rodeos throughout the state, and I couldn't help but applaud his dedication for supporting me. For the first of the week, he would be home in Vegas, and on Wednesday night, he would drive to my house so that he could join me on my own traveling to my next rodeo. I knew he had to be exhausted, but he didn't show it once.
"How's things coming along, sweetie?" Zak asked me, resting his palms on my shoulders and massaging them gently as I sat at my desk, papers and notes scattered all over the place.
"Kinda stressed out," I sighed. "Jay made it look so easy."
"He's been doing it for a while and he's good at it, but I'm sure you'll catch on quick. What all have you gotten so far?"
"A list of the primary witnesses for the island. Will be booking the flight soon once I get confirmation from the witnesses and hotels since there's a language barrier."
He nodded, "Good job. Do you have anything coming up this weekend?"
"No. I have a rodeo in Billings on the sixteenth, so I have this weekend and next without any plans."
