Victoria

As much as I hated it was over, Saturday night's rodeo ended too quickly for my liking. I was having a blast in California, but good things always come to an end and now it was time to travel back to Utah so I can pick back up on my normal life.

At least, so I thought.

"Why're you looking at me like that?" Sam snickered when I noticed that familiar grin on his face.

"First of all, you have a shit-eating grin on your face. Second of all, you're up before ten o'clock."

"I just have a little surprise for you..."

"What is it?"

"I know you'll probably be mad, but I actually have two surprises for you."

"Are you going to tell me or what? My palms are starting to sweat."

"I got us a gig."

"By us, you mean you? I mean, you get gigs all the time-"

"Not this time, girl. Us!"

I gulped, "Where?"

"There's a place in L.A. that had their opening band back out. I saw it on Instagram last night and I sent them our version of No Church in the Wild and they messaged us back this morning and they booked us!"

"I mean, that's great, but I don't think we'll be able to. We have to get back to Utah, Sam."

"I know. The show starts at seven, and we'd have to be there by six at the latest."

"Okay, but what about Ben and Ryan? They're not here to play-"

"I got that under control. I sent the riffs to the venue. There's a drummer and bassist who's buds with Whiskey Myers said they could fill in. They heard our tunes and said they'd love to."

"This can't be real, Sam. Whiskey Myers?! Is that who we're opening for?"

"Sure is! Tori, this is our chance to really make it!"

"I know, but it's just a lot to take in..."

"Why's that?"

"Because...I don't know if I want to be famous. I mean, being recognized for our talent is great, but if we were to be famous, privacy would go out the window."

"I understand that. What if we get just known enough for doing gigs here and there? Not some world tour type of stuff? Keeping it subtle."

"I like that idea a bit better, but I don't think I have a good stage presence."

Sam scoffed, "Are you kidding me? You don't realize the stage presence you have because you're letting your nerves get the best of you. When you let go and just let the music take over you, you have such an aura about you."
