Victoria

I would be lying if I said I didn't feel like I was thriving in life. I had just gotten adjusted to my job while working for Zak, and I still had the freedom to make my own music with my band and do some solo traveling for rodeos when Zak couldn't join me. With my endless dedication and strict schedule, I was proud to say that I was getting closer and closer to compete in the National Finals Rodeo with my current world standings being at number nineteen!

For context, you have to be number fifteen in the world standings to qualify for the National Finals, and I was excited beyond belief. Only a couple of months left before I found out if I qualified or not and a few more rodeos to squeeze into my busy schedule. This weekend, I was heading to Deer Lodge, Montana to not just compete in the rodeo, but partake in the investigation at the Old Montana State Prison.

"You excited to go to Montana on Monday?" Zak asked, adjusting his favorite pillow that dressed my bed to sit behind his head, bending his arm behind his head and laying his other arm over his stomach as he watched me finish combing my hair as we were now settling in for the night.

"I am. I miss Montana for sure. Last time I was there was in September for that rodeo and a part of me didn't want to leave."

"I'm sure. Montana is beautiful. I'll keep that in mind for our next vacation," He grinned, his free hand now scratching between Gracie's ears after she had brought one of her favorite squeaky toys into the bedroom. "Where were you at in world standings again? Twenty?"

"Close, but I'm at nineteen now."

"And you have to be fifteen or less to qualify for the NFR?"

"Yes."

"You'll make it this year for sure. When do they announce the contestants for this year?"

"October fifteenth."
