Victoria

The following morning, Zak and I enjoyed a hot breakfast that I wanted to make for him since he had to leave tomorrow morning to Salt Lake City, and if I were to be honest, I was afraid that I would never see or talk to him again.

"It got cold this morning," Zak broke the silence. "How've your horses been adjusting to the weather?"

"They've been doing okay. Winter can get pretty rough in Kentucky, so the snow isn't anything they're not used to." I shrugged, looking out the sliding glass doors in my kitchen to watch my horses enjoying the round bale of alfalfa hay I had put out for them.

"They're not cold?" He asked, referring to the light layer of snow piling up on their coats.

"No. The sitting snow means that they're well insulated. If the snow is melting on their backs, it means that their body heat is escaping and then they'll be cold. Their coats are nice and thick, and none of it is melting on them. They're completely fine."

"I never would've known that. It's a good thing I'm not a horse owner, because I would do everything wrong," He chuckled. "I would've had blankets on them and kept them inside."

"Trust me, I've done things wrong plenty of times when I first got horses."

"Learn with experience, right?"

"Exactly."

"What're you thinking about?" He asked, taking notice of my absent interest in continuing the conversation.

"Just trying to figure things out."

"Like what?"

"With my job, I still have a want to travel. I was able to work while I was moving, but driving had to take place during the night since I work a usual eight to five, and it's a remote job-"

"So, you're still wanting to travel now that you have the availability to?" He guessed.

"Yes, and with living in a new state, I'm chomping at the bit to go somewhere new to see. You remember how I always said I wanted to go out west, and now that I'm actually here, I want to get out more."

"Is this your way of asking me to help you with that?" He teased.

"No, I was just saying."

He nodded, "Well, I could probably help with that, if you'd let me."

"How so?"
