New Beginnings and Trust

Annie was deep into the design work for the new project at the North Wing tower of the airport. This luxury lounge was meant to be a haven for travelers—a place where they could relax while waiting for their flights or find comfort if their flights were canceled. Unlike many exclusive lounges, this one would be open to all, no membership required.

Annie and Roy had found closure in their relationship, and any residual awkwardness had melted away. They now interacted with the ease of friends or colleagues, their professional demeanor guiding their interactions.

One sunny morning, Annie arrived at the construction site to check on the progress. The scene was bustling with activity. Builders and contractors worked together to cover the construction area, ensuring that passengers at the airport were not inconvenienced by the ongoing work. Annie scanned the site, her mind focused on the tasks ahead.

Roy was there too, overseeing how the plan was unfolding. He saw Annie and gave her a nod, which she returned with a confident smile. They had reached a point where their encounters were pleasant and friendly, with mutual respect as the foundation.

"Alright, everyone," Annie called out, gathering the contractor, the builder, and the engineer around the table where her detailed blueprints were laid out. "Let's review the design plan for the lounge."

Roy stood slightly to the side, watching with admiration. Annie's poise and command were evident as she explained the intricate details of the design, addressing questions with expertise and ensuring everyone was aligned with the vision.

We must prioritize safety above all," Annie emphasized, her voice firm yet encouraging. "Every step we take must ensure the safety of both the passengers and our workers."

"Yes, Architect Annie!" the team responded in unison, their respect for her clear in their enthusiastic agreement.

As the team dispersed to their respective duties, Annie caught Roy's eye. He gave her a supportive smile, a gesture that spoke volumes about their shared history and mutual respect.

"You're really making this place something special, Annie," Roy said as he passed by her.

"Thanks, Roy," Annie replied with a nod, her confidence unwavering.

The site resumed its busy rhythm, each person absorbed in their responsibilities. Annie felt a deep sense of satisfaction watching the project come to life. It was more than just a luxury lounge; it was a symbol of new beginnings, professional growth, and the ability to move forward with grace and integrity.

Annie was at the bustling construction site, her attention divided between overseeing the luxury lounge project and the myriad of calls and messages that came her way. As she moved around, her phone vibrated with an incoming video call from Ken. She smiled as she saw his name and quickly answered.

Hello, Ken," Annie greeted, turning her phone to show him the busy site. "I'm at the airport today."

Ken noticed the noisy background and winced. "I can barely hear you, Annie. It's so loud there."

Hold on, let me find a quieter spot," Annie said, adjusting her hat as she made her way to the employee rest area. She entered the room, a haven of silence compared to the bustling site outside. "Can you hear me now?" she asked, settling down on a chair.

"Yeah, much better," Ken replied with relief. "I wanted to talk to you about the project in Jeju Island. We need to change the kitchen floor plan."

Annie frowned slightly, opening her MacBook to pull up the floor plan. "What's the problem?"

Ken explained, showing her the floor plan over the video call. "The direction of the countertop needs to be adjusted. There's an issue with the irrigation system, and we don't want water flowing into the house. Mrs. Laude and Simon left the decision to us."

Annie studied the plan on her screen, nodding thoughtfully. "I see what you mean. Let me think about it for a moment."

In the background, Ken was also busy, wearing his construction helmet. He was multitasking, just like Annie. Suddenly, someone entered the rest area, a figure Ken recognized instantly. It was Roy. Ken watched as Roy approached Annie from behind, unaware that she was deeply engrossed in finding a solution on her laptop, her headset on, blocking out the world.

Ken tried to warn her. "Annie, someone's behind you," he said, but she couldn't hear him.

Roy reached out and touched her shoulder gently. Annie jumped, startled. "Oh my goodness!" she exclaimed, turning to see Roy. "You scared me there."

I kept calling you, but you didn't hear me," Roy said, pointing to her headset.

"Oh, sorry. I had my earphones on," Annie replied, showing him. Ken saw everything through the video call, his concern evident.

Ken spoke up, his voice filled with concern. "Are you okay, Annie? You looked really scared."

Annie smiled reassuringly. "Yeah, I'm fine. It's just Roy."

Roy nodded apologetically. "Sorry to scare you. I'm heading out now. I have a flight tonight. I'll leave the rest to you."

Annie nodded. "No worries. Have a safe flight, Roy. If anything comes up, we'll contact the project leader. Safe travels."

As Roy left, Ken could only hear Annie's side of the conversation, but he saw the entire interaction. A twinge of jealousy flared up, but he trusted Annie. He knew she was professional and dedicated.

"Annie, you sure you're okay?" Ken asked again.

Yes, Ken, I'm fine. Really. Thanks for checking in. Let's get back to the Jeju project. I think I have a solution for the kitchen layout," Annie said, her focus shifting back to the task at hand.

Ken nodded, still feeling a bit uneasy but reassured by Annie's professionalism. "Alright, let's hear it."

As they continued discussing the project, the moment passed, leaving Ken with a deep respect for Annie's ability to balance her work and personal interactions with such grace and confidence.
