HOUSTON, TX

After hours of walking around campus in search of Brianna's classes for the year, Jungkook and Brianna decided it was best to call it a night, and Jungkook was walking Brianna back to her sleeping quarters before he could head back to his upperclassmen apartment.

"You know, that's not fair," Brianna whined to the boy, complaining about the rooming situation at the school. She felt like if students could afford to live off campus they should be able to, regardless of whether they were freshmen or not, but being forced to stay on campus while upperclassmen could live in the off-campus dorms was irritating.

"Honestly, you'll appreciate living so close to campus when classes begin," Jungkook said. "Living so close to the school made it easier for me to get to my classes, plus housing here is way cheaper, so be grateful. I know you're used to your lil' queen-sized bed and big room but trust me, it's not that bad." He mashed Brianna's forehead with his pointer finger with a smile before she swatted away his hand.

"I'm not saying I'm too good, I just like more privacy at night." Brianna shrugged as she walked beside him, he just sighed and shook his head. He knew it was no use arguing with her about the privilege of sharing her room because she had grown so accustomed to the luxurious life her parents provided. She was used to her spacious bedroom on the top floor of her two-story house, with her queen-sized bed, in her pink and feminine room, so he knew this was quite the adjustment for his best friend.

After a life of pampering and never having to raise a finger, she never really struggled in terms of financials or anything she wanted. Considering her mother was a travel agent, and her father a financial consultant, the girl didn't know struggle. However, Jungkook did. In contrast to his best friend's rose-colored lifestyle, his life became sort of dingy and grey around his 9th birthday. Jungkook spent most of his youth mowing lawns and doing what he could, legally, to help his single mother.

Considering his father had walked out on them when he was younger to marry his office assistant, he forced Jungkook's mother to pick up all the slack while raising Jungkook. Growing up, his mother was a pharmacist at Walgreens in their town, and though a good job, it didn't bring in enough to sustain their lifestyle. By the time Jungkook hit the legal working age, he made sure he kept two jobs at a time to pick slack up around the house.

He wasn't granted the privilege of complaining over things like a room and such once his father left, considering he brought in most of their money, Jungkook and his mother never knew when they would be out on the streets. However, he knew his upbringing wasn't Brianna's fault, so he never was too upset by her spoiled ways. He often found it sort of... cute. It just pushed him more to work, considering he wanted to provide his best friend with the life she was accustomed to for many years to come.

He could also admit his ways may have been a helping hand in why she behaved the way she did.

The two continued chatting and walking towards the dorms when Jungkook received a sudden phone call, prompting him to dig in his side pocket and pull out the metal box. Looking at the screen, a brow raised seeing his roommate Jermaine calling suddenly.
