HOUSTON, TX
I had just pulled into the school parking lot, and unfortunately, it was across campus from where my first class of the day was. I grabbed my Northface bookbag out of the passenger seat and saw a small shiny tube roll from the chair and onto the car floor. "What the," I said, leaning over the car's armrest and picking up the small tube, the word 'Fenty' spelled out on the front. I smiled, seeing the half-empty lipgloss that Brianna had been nagging me about before slipping it into the pocket of my bookbag, mentally reminding myself to drop by later and give it to her. I finished collecting my things before opening the car door and stepping out, locking it behind me. Being on campus again, especially after clearing things up with Brianna, made the past few weeks of school breezy. I would sit in class and daydream about her, while still being able to get my work done, and after class I would grab her from her room and we would hang out for a little before I'd drop her back off. I liked that we had a mutual amount of clinginess, because I wanted to see her every second of every day, and she allowed me to. Whenever I called or texted that I wanted to see her, she was just as eager to see me, and it all just felt so right.
I had a small pep in my step as I made my way to my first and final class of the day, excited to get that long hour and a half over so I could see my girl. As if she could hear me thinking of her, my phone dinged with her special notification sound. I smiled knowing when I took out my phone her name with a big, vibrant red heart would appear. I looked at my phone screen before clicking on the thread of our messages.
Are you here?
Yes I just got here
what u need?Nothing, I just miss you
I smiled, feeling that familiar bubbly feeling in my stomach as I began typing to respond, my attention completely settled on my phone.
Imma come see you after this
we can go eat too if you wantYou know I'm tryna eat but I'd be happier if you brought it to me and we ate here :)
I don't feel like getting back outI couldn't help but laugh at her cuteness. Just as I went back to respond, I felt my shoulder roughly bump into someone, causing me to drop my phone. "Oh shit," I cursed at myself, reaching down for my phone only to see the person who I bumped into reaching for it too. "I am so sorry," the feminine voice said before picking it up and handing it to me. Upon finally focusing on one another, I saw that same familiar face that had been avoiding me for some time now. "Myra?" I was used to her having long, straightened hair, but it seemed as if she cut her natural hair into a short curly bob. In contrast to her staple, which was blonde hair, her hair was now jet black with soft brown highlights in it. She had slimmed down, but it looked healthy, and she looked happier in the face. Upon looking at me the soft smile she had turned into an awkward smile as she handed me back my phone. "Hey JK."
