“What happened?” Eric collected the result from her and looked through it, and a look of horror appeared on his face.“His heart is bleeding, his veins are filled with wolves bane and silver, and the chances of him staying alive….”
“Is five percent. Get the room ready for an operation, Eric we have a lot of work to do. I cannot lose him at any cost” Eric nodded his head and they both walked to the room.
Cheryl was curious as too what was happening because she has been watching Louisa mice from left to right, panicking.
She knew Louisa wouldn't speak to her right now because she was so mad at her but what bad has she done to protect her best friend from the danger that could be ahead of them? She questioned herself.
They both made eye contact, and she saw the fear in Louisa's eyes which made what to go closer, but the moment she took a step Louisa walked into the room.
Louisa was still mad, but she needed to concentrate on saving her mate's life. Putting him to sleep was very hard for her and now that he has plenty of things going on internally, it was not just easy for her to handle.
They began to operate, but Louisa didn't lay a single on him because she really couldn't. She was scared that she was going to do something accidentally.
She watched Eric's every move and soon enough they began to extract the silver and wolves bane from his vein. They didn't know what to do with the heart because they couldn't see where he was bleeding.
Louisa put on a glove quickly with fear in her heart. She slowly lifted it up and immediately found where it was bleeding, but it suddenly stopped beating, which made her gently drop it down immediately.
He began to breathe again, and Eric realized the problem. He immediately fixed it along with a bleeding heart and the operation was done.
Louisa thanked the moon goddess in tears along with the people who were doing the operation.
They all walked out and after doing another scan and test at his was assured that he was fine and completely out of danger.
He was already beginning to heal, which made her happy, for she can feel the reduction in the pain he felt.
The door slowly opened, and she turned around to see her best friend with a soft grin on her face, and Louisa immediately frowned in return.
“I don't want noise in here, so just go.”
“I'm sorry Louisa I know I shouldn't have done what I did, I mean you're my best friend, and he is your mate. He wouldn't hurt you even if you were his enemy, I'm sorry.” Louisa looked at her with a small smile.
“It's ok, I forgive you, and I apologize for going all snappy. I was just so mad.”
“I thoroughly understand, come on let's have lunch. You can assign Eric to stay with him, and we will have lunch.”
“I don't know if that's safe”
“You can certainly trust Eric and you know that, so just tell him I'll be waiting for you here” Louisa walked out of the room to meet Eric and Cheryl looked at Miles as he slept with wires connected to him.
Cheryl certainly didn't like him still, but perhaps it wasn't a mad thing to at least watch him for the sake of her best friend.
After few minutes, Louis came. back with Eric, and he promised to watch him as they left.
Louisa couldn't help but wonder about how he even got that wound in the first place. She knew outside the pack was dangerous, but she certainly had never heard of a person being found around the pack in this condition.
She wondered how crazy her brother is going right now, she just hoped he wouldn't make the mistake of yelling at his wife because he was angry.
Moreover, Sophie was not going to spare him if he tried that with her taking care of their baby, she was certainly going to kill. him for disturbing her piece
They both walked into the cafeteria to get some food while Cheryl tried to calm her down and divert her mind away from Miles for a while, but she just couldn't.
She has seen her brother getting unnecessarily worried about his mate, even if there was absolutely nothing wrong with her. Perhaps it was normal to feel this way around when your mate didn't know.
“Order your food Louisa.” Cheryl said for the third time and that snapped her out of her imagination.
“Sorry, what did you say?”
“Order your food, you're keeping the poor man standing since” she immediately turned on towards the waiter that was standing beside her.
She gave her order and began to think again which was pushing Cheryl. Louisa has never been on the edge but Cheryl knew damn well that she couldn't just overreact.
She began to sing a lullaby that usually calms Louisa down while holding her head and she put her head against the table.
She was slowly drifting towards dream land, but she suddenly heard a bell that indicated that someone just walked in, and she turned around to see who it was.
A strange-looking man stood there, and he continued to look around until his eyes got to her and walked towards her.
“Do you know him?” Cheryl asked.
“I have no damn idea, I have never seen him in my life.” she responded quickly, turning away from him and facing the table.
“Good afternoon ladies, sorry to interrupt, but I need to speak to you Louisa” she turned to look at him with furrowed eyebrows.
“I don't even know you.”
“I'm sorry my name is Mitch, and I am certainly not from this pack. Not to worry, I didn't sneak in, I took permission to come here, and I've been looking for you everywhere.”
“Do you mind telling me why you are looking for a total stranger and who let you in?”
“Your father did, and I'm here to see my best friend.”
“Best friend? What are you talking about?”
“Miles, the crazy soul you found in front of your pack.”
“So that's his name. Err mm let's say he is resting right now, do you still want to see him?.”
“I'm not taking him, trust me he needs to find a place to stay.”
“Why? Doesn't he have a pack or a family?”
“Well… He does have a pack, and he does have a family, but he can't go back.”
“Why?”
“I'm sorry, but that's his story to tell, not mine.”
