“What's wrong?” Miles asked gently as he felt the urge to close his eyes and sleep, but he couldn't do that now."You… You rejected me, you said I was foolish to love you in a few days.“ The more she cried, the more horrible he felt about the way he had been treating her.
The lack of sleep he had will drive him crazy, he knew too well, but he couldn't sleep, and she was always in his way. He couldn't remember how he fell asleep but at this point of his life he was glad he did.
He continued to rub her back in circles as he whispered comforting words into her ear, and with time she stood crying and just rested her head against his chest.
“Are you going to leave me!”
“Never, I know our relationship is weird, but I will never leave you. Do you have nightmares every day?” He brushed her hair off her face as he looked at her.
“Yeah. Sometimes of my family, even the mother I never met and you. I don't know what's causing them, but I can't help it and I can't stay awake. The last time I did, I almost burnt down the whole house.” he raised an eyebrow while looking at her.
“I'm sorry about that. You don't need to worry about anything when I'm here, go back to sleep.”
“You're a sleepy idiots, you're not even meant to be awake.” he let out a laugh, knowing that he was telling the truth.
“You were screaming, it was impossible for me not to wake up. I tried to wake you and you gladly refused to wake up.” she looked at him curiously.
“You tried to wake me up?”
“Yeah why?”
“The last time I had a nightmare, and you were there, you were staring at me turning and laughing until I woke, and you said if you woke me up you would have missed the fun of seeing my horrifying face when I woke up" his jaws dropped.
“What the hell did I do when I lost my sanity?”
“Let's not begin with that, we both need some sleep.” She stood from the chair she was sleeping on and put the blanket on the floor before putting the couch pillows on the floor.
She urged him to lay down on the blanket and she did. Then he used the other blanket to cover them up. She snuggled in his arms as she fell asleep while he chuckled.
Soon enough, they were both asleep, but unknown to them, a pair of gold eyes had been staring at them the entire time.
Cheryl didn't like that she was spending most of her time with Miles now when she was around. It has just been two months since he came here and Louisa barely spends time with her.
She knew damn well that Miles didn't want a mate, she figured that out after snooping a lot, and she was going to separate and probably use Miles as a pawn in her game of chess.
She moved away from the window and walked out of the hospital. Perhaps it was a good thing for Miles to be here; it just gave her a perfect opportunity to execute her plan.
Louisa's birthday was coming up very soon, and what kind of best friend wouldn't love to celebrate her best friend's birthday.
She walked into her house and let out a sigh of relief, she didn't like Miles certainly, but for the sake of her best friend she will tolerate him for some time, but after that, her fake concern will fade away.
It was almost morning, and she had done her beauty sleep in the hospital, so it wasn't really bothering her. She needed to plan a lot of things right now because she knew that she will barely have time.
Waking up before others was a miracle for her because she barely gets to go what she wants knowing that she has to always be on guard as a ranked warrior.
She loved her work so much, but occasionally she needed her personal space to be able to catch up to things. A picture frame, accidentally fell to the ground as she picked the pillow from the bed.
She picked it up and realized that it was a picture of her father, which made her let out a laugh. It has been so many years since he died, but she could clearly remember the way the axe cut his head off his body.
The whole pack was present at the treason ground to say her father was killed. Cheryl knew her father was wrong and what he did was completely out of line, but did he really deserve death?
She had seen the pain on Alpha Jackson's face that morning because they were best of friends, but I guess he needed to make that decision or the counsel was not going to spare him either.
Alpha Jackson took care of the family as much as he could not care about the fact that his best friend was already dead.
Cheryl's training to be a warrior began because she wanted to make her father proud, even if he wasn't here to see her grow to be the girl that she is today.
She had moved it if the house in which her family lived to have her peace of mind because she was tired of all the daily noise and the fact that her brother looked exactly like their father didn't really help her in any way.
After making some food for her treat, she watched as the sun rose through her window with a smile on her face. Louisa and she were fond of looking at the sunset and sunrise, but they both have been so busy and that barely had time to do that.
She took a sip of her coffee before going to take a bath. It was going to be yet another hectic day at work and this time she was handling prisoners, which she didn't want to.
After having her bathe she picked out a pair of black ripped jeans and a plain black t-shirt. She had gotten so comfortable wearing trousers that she didn't care about what people said anymore.
She put her hair in a neat bun before sitting down for a proper breakfast, and after she was done, she was out of the house.
As she walked towards the dungeon and noticed that Jordan was standing there looking at one of them, which made her confused.
“What are you doing here?” He turned to look at her and went back to the prisoner who was shaking to death.
“You don't own the pack, so you don't tell me where I am meant to be and where I am not.”
“Sorry.”
