We all stood on our platforms as the countdown began for the 75th hunger games. I could feel panic rising in my chest as I looked at all of the tributes. My fellow male tribute was to my right and to my left was Finnick. I watched his eyes scan the cornucopia, trying to see what weapons were there.
His eyes then went to the tributes, where they eventually landed on me. He gave me a weak smile, I'm sure he could see the fear and panic in my eyes even from where he was.
"It'll be okay." I watched him mouth to me.
I then looked to the the middle as the countdown got to 3.
3...2...1...
Most began running or swimming to the cornucopia but those who were smaller, jumped into the water and made their way to the shore. I allowed myself to fall back into the water and started to slowly swim to the cornucopia.
It was best to give the other tributes a few minutes to take each other out before climbing up there. I floated around the rocky edges watching as tributes fought. Finnick helped the District 12 girl that had just won last year. I had met her a few times before.
I watched as Cashmere went for Finnick. Neither Finnick or Katniss, the district 12 girl, had seen Cashmere. I quickly grabbed Cashmere by her ankles and pulled her into the water. She had hit her head on the rocks but I stayed under the water with her as I snapped her neck to be sure the job was done.
"Who the hell was that?" I heard Katniss ask while I was under water. I let go of Cashmere and her body floated to the top.
"Holy shit." I heard Finnick say. I then surfaced from the water, gasping for air.
"Y/n?" Finnick said shocked. I felt his hands grab mine and he pulled me onto the rocks.
"Thank you." Katniss said, realizing I had saved her life.
"How did you do that?" Finnick asked me.
"I swam." I said as Finnick helped me stand up. Finnick continued to stare at me.
"I pulled her by her ankles. When she went down, she hit her head on the rocks. I was able to kill her without her struggling to much." I said with a shrug.
"Where's Mags?" I asked remembering that she had been the female tribute from District 4.
"She's on the land with Peeta." Finnick said as he pointed to the shore where Mags and Peeta, the male tribute from 12 waited.
"Let's go." Finnick said to Katniss and I.
