Surprise Visit,
Annie had been in the hospital for a week now, her condition still precarious. The police continued their investigation, slowly gathering information about the incident. Annie remained weak, spending most of her time asleep. When she did wake up, it was only briefly before exhaustion overtook her again. The doctors reassured everyone that each person heals at their own pace, and all they could do was wait.
Ken stayed by her side through it all, his unwavering presence a source of comfort for Annie, even in her unconscious state. One afternoon, Roy, Annie's ex-boyfriend, learned about her situation through the news. Concerned and worried, he decided to visit her at Seoul Hospital. On his way, he picked up a bouquet of flowers and some fruit, hoping to bring some cheer to her hospital room.
Upon arriving at the hospital, Roy approached the information desk. "Hi, I'm here to visit Annie," he told the nurse at the desk.
The nurse looked up, her expression professional. "May I know your name,?
"I'm Roy," he replied confidently.
The nurse checked the list of approved visitors for the VIP room but couldn't find his name. "I'm sorry, Mr. Roy, but only those on the approved list are permitted to visit the VIP room."
Roy felt a pang of disappointment. "But I'm a friend of Annie," he insisted. "Can you call someone to confirm? I know Lev Deros."
The nurse hesitated for a moment. She knew who Lev Deros was—the wife of Dr. Luke, the CEO and owner of the hospital. "Okay, let me call Dr. Luke,"
She dialed Dr. Luke's office, and after a few rings, he answered. "Dr. Luke speaking."
Dr. Luke, this is Nurse Abby from the information desk. There's someone here named Roy who would like to visit the VIP room. He's not on the list of approved visitors, but he mentioned your wife's name, Mrs. Lev. He said she knows him."
Dr. Luke was intrigued and a bit surprised. "My wife knows him? What's his name again?"
Roy," Nurse Abby repeated.
Dr. Luke remembered lev, mentioning Roy the previous night. "I see," he said, considering his options. "My wife is still asleep right now, and I don't want to wake her. My wife and I don't have the power to grant him access since he's not on the list of approved visitors."
Nurse Abby relayed this information to Roy, but he continued to plead. "Please, I just want to see Annie. I'm really worried about her."
Dr. Luke, hearing Roy's desperation through the phone, sighed. "Alright, Nurse Abby. What you can do is call the VIP room and inform Ken that someone named Roy would like to visit Annie. Let Ken make the decision."
The nurse nodded, understanding. "I'll do that, Dr. Luke. Thank you."
Dr. Luke, with a hint of frustration, ended the call, muttering to himself, "I will not wake up my wife just to entertain him. Don't bother my wife."
Nurse Abby picked up the phone and dialed the VIP room. Ken answered on the second ring, his voice tired but alert. "Hello?"
"Hi, Ken. This is Nurse Abby from the information desk. There's someone here named Roy who wants to visit Annie. He's not on the approved list, but he says he knows Annie.
Ken's mind raced as he recalled Annie mentioning Roy. Roy was Annie's ex, and their history had always made Ken uneasy. His face became serious as he processed the information.
Okay, send him in," Ken instructed, his voice steady but firm.
The assistant nodded and quickly informed Roy that he was approved to enter the VIP room. A few moments later, the door opened, and Roy stepped in. He looked around the lavish room before his eyes settled on Ken. There was a brief, tense silence as the two men sized each other up.
