Trishalini POV

"Honestly, when we received the news and the invitation, we were shocked," she laughed a little, "I mean, we were to wed our daughter to Yuvraj Abhinandan. He is such a different kind of person. My daughter and him even liked each other," she said, and I cleared my throat.

I could feel my cheeks turning hotter and this heavy immobile attire was draining my energy.

"She must be beautiful," I tried to say, trying to not fumble or make it awkward.

They laughed in sync. "All Princesses are beautiful, indeed, but," one of them said, "but, it takes more than just beauty," she finished and Maasa interrupted.

"Like intelligence, Maharani Jamnaji," she addressed her and she smiled adjoining her hands.

"Ji, Maharani Abhishree, like intelligence, and I am sure your daughter-in-law would fail all the Princesses," she said, and I kept my hands slightly adjoined.

I badly wanted to leave.

"Do you sleep well at night?" one of the ladies asked, and a giggle ran, I nodded silently and they laughed even louder.

And, suddenly when I thought that it could not get worse, an attendee came and told Maasa.

"Ranisa, Maharaj is asking for you,"

I felt Maasa's hand on my shoulder as she said. "I will be back in a moment, Trisha. You talk to them, alright?" her words sent a wave of comfort for a moment before she left me alone, surrounded by mean women.

Well, I did not know if they were being cruel or if it was normal for them. It was so soon to judge. Or it was not even my place to judge.

Anyway, I just stood like a statue as another question made its way towards me.

"So, you two both knew each other before marriage?" An old woman asked, and I could not help but nod. I did not if I should lie.

"Great!" another lady said, "Even, I met my husband before marriage," she laughed a little.

It made me a little comfortable.

"How did you two meet?" another lady asked. "I can sense the love in the air," she added, and I smiled weakly before answering.

"We met six years ago when he visited the Gurukul," I said, and they nodded in sync.

"It's nice to know the husband before the wedding," an old lady said, and I smiled.

"We were friends," I added, trying to feel normal now. Well, it was getting better now.

"You two also meet quite a lot, alone too?" an old lady asked and I nodded calculatedly. I did not understand what exactly she wanted to ask.

"It's beautiful," another lady said, touching my dupatta.

"It would be too costly for your father to afford it. I mean, I assume it's a gift from him," she said, and my smile vanished, shaking my head.

"It's a gift from my husband. Yuvraj Abhinandan," I said, and they all inhaled deeply together.

"You do not take your husband's name. It's a sin," one of the old ladies said, and I immediately lowered my gaze.

"Yes," I muttered. "Actually he does not mind me taking his name. I used to call him Abhi even before our wedding," I could not stop myself from saying and they all looked at me with shock. I smiled a little. "Actually, he is younger than me," I added.
