I was currently walking to Telma's with Link, my hand in his. We had already kissed about six times today to keep up the whole dating act. Though, it wasn't all bad. Link was a good kisser. However, it was bringing all my feelings for him to the surface. I knew for now it was okay to act as if I had feelings for him, it made the act more believable. It was after that was the issue. Once we leave Castle Town and go back to our normal ways, how do I act? Just like a friend, again?
Not exactly excited for that.
Link seemed to be okay with everything. He was good at keeping up with our ruse. "Everything okay?" He was staring right at me as we stood outside the door to Telmas. "Everything is fine. Let's head in." I gave him a smile and squeezed his hand reassuringly. As he got the door for me, I released his hand. I didn't want Telma getting her hopes up when this was all temporary.
Narrator POV
The sound of the tavern door opening prompted Telma to look up from her current action of drying up some freshly washed pint glasses. Upon seeing Y/n and Link, a large smile broke out on her face and she called them over, her voice cheery. "There you two are! You've been in town for a bit now and haven't come 'round for a drink or a hello! I should turn you both out." Y/n gave her an apologetic smile and Link looked a bit scared. "You're lucky I like you both enough to keep you 'round."
They sat down at a table and began talking about a possible lead in their search for these mysterious people plotting against Hyrule. Telma watched them and a thought popped into her head but she quickly pushed it away. Link stood up and went over to Telma asking for a pint of cider for the both of them. As she poured them, she looked at Link. He was leaning on the bar and staring at Y/n who was looking over her nails to ensure they were neat and clean. There was a loving look in his gaze and she smirked. "Lookin' over at her like a husband lookin' at his wife." Link's face heated up and he couldn't fight the blush that appeared. He attempted to protest but Telma gave him a look and put her hands on her hips letting him know she wouldn't believe a word out of his mouth.
He simply shut up, grabbed the drink, and went back to Y/n. She gave him a smile when he sat back down and took a swig of her drink. The tavern was empty, save for a couple of drunks stumbling in, so Link and Y/n were immersed in their conversation before Y/n's attention was stolen away. "Shad!" She shot up from her chair, downed her drink, and made her way over to him. Link was left alone at the table in shock before he quickly got up and followed after her, the puppy dog act coming back to him. "Y/n! Hello! Hello, Link!" Shad was in a particularly good mood. He had discovered some new ancient artifacts and was pleased with his research. While this was a contender for his cheery disposition, the beautiful girl walking over to hug him was definitely helping it.
Link felt his chest tighten but he cracked a smile for Shad, the man had never wronged him so for Link to act hostile would be strange. As Y/n embraced him, Link noted the red that tinted his cheeks as he gently hugged her back. She pulled back but left her hands on his shoulders. "I haven't seen you in ages! How have you been?" They parted and sat down to chat while Link took a seat beside Y/n. He was unusually quiet as he listened to the conversation and Ashei had noticed when she walked in and sat down.
"Y/n, I know better than to listen to town gossip. However, this one seems rather believable." Y/n gave a questioning look. "What's going on between you two?" Ashei motioned with her fingers between her and Link. Y/n stumbled over her words and was soon speechless as Link threw an arm around her shoulders, leaned in, and kissed the side of her head. "Finally stopped being stupid kids." Link said with a smirk. Shad was smiling, though it wasn't genuine. There was a glint of jealousy in his eyes. Ashei laughed out loud and sighed. "I was wondering when that would happen. I should've put money on it like Rusl."
