"Y/n?" Renado tried to remain calm as he went to ask her for an explanation. "He's a monster! He cannot be around the children!"
"Y/n, that's Link!"
"No, Link was taken. This imposter is here in his place to lure us into false safety. He'll kill us when we let our guard down."
"What? Y/n, what are you talking about?" Link spoke as he raised his hand to move the sword from his neck but she pushed it further. "Don't test me. I have no issue killing you." Link was in shock. How could she think and say this? There was no doubt in her movements, her eyes held no trust in them. She was set in her decision, this wasn't Link.
Then, he saw it. She had that distant, glazed-over look Ilia did when she lost her memories. There was something else there, though. "Okay, okay. There's no need to kill me. I'll lead you to him. I'll take you to Link." Everyone was looking at him like he was insane but he was determined to see it through. She hesitated. "Try anything and I'll do it. Got it?"
"Understood." She lowered her sword but didn't let it go. "Where is he?"
"You have to help me first."
"No, not happening."
"I can't help you unless I get this...item I need. Once I get it, I'll take you to him. It's the only way you can get to him." With everything coming to light about the strange things happening, he knew he would need something to help him. But first, he needed to understand what happened to her. "Fine. Let's go."
"You passed out, don't you think you should take a minute before you go gallivanting off?"
"No. Now walk." She was grasping her sword so tightly her knuckles began to turn white. "Y/n, please take a moment to sit and drink some water before you go off with Li- this man." Renado spoke to her softly. She gave in upon seeing the kid's pleading looks. She nodded and sat down. Link was walking to sit down when he heard her sword scrape the floor. "Where I can see you." He looked down and saw the tip of her sword pointing to a spot on the floor she expected him to sit on. He was impressed by how demanding and intimidating she could be in the face of a potential threat. She took no chances when it came to danger around those she cared about. He sat down where she commanded and she withdrew her sword back to her side. "Bad time for the kids to be here for a visit."
"They were very insistent on coming. Rusl brought them last night after you two turned in. They leave tomorrow morning." Renado kept a watchful eye on her as he spoke. He was attempting to see if there were any marks or signs of some kind of curse on her.
After she had something to eat and drink and they were satisfied with her 'recovery', she and Link headed out of the Sanctuary. "You'll walk next to me, only slightly in front of me."
"Not taking your horse?"
"Not with you." He fought the urge to argue with her about who he was. She loathed him right now. "What do you need? Where is it?"
"The Sacred Grove."
Getting to the Sacred Grove in this fashion would've been pleasant for Link had it not been for the suspicious and deathly looks she gave him every few seconds. He wasn't sure how they would both get across. The Golden Cucco was there, he could use that but it wouldn't support them both. He could have her use it and turn into a wolf and attempt to jump through as he did with Midna but she would freak out and kill him if he transformed. An idea popped into his head. "You say I'm an imposter."
"You are."
"You really don't believe I'm Link."
"You told me you would lead me to him. You saying that didn't help the fact that I already think you're some beast sent by that...thing."
"I just wanted you to lower the sword. What if I could prove to you I'm Link?"
"How so?"
"I can turn into my wolf form."
"You can't."
"Unless you let me. I know the crystal is in your bag, wrapped up to avoid any accidental touch." She looked a bit taken aback. She wasn't expecting him to know that, considering only she and Link knew how they secured the crystal and why. "Why would it be wrapped?"
"If I touch it, I turn into a wolf." She stopped walking and faced him. "Okay, let's see. Don't try anything." She reached into her bag, never taking her eyes off him, and pulled the crystal out. She grabbed the edge of the cloth they switched it into, the cloak no longer being something they wanted with them. "Hand." He put out his left hand and she unraveled it into his hand. The second it landed in his hand, a bright light surrounded him and she closed her eyes to shield them.
