"Melody, go back to your station."
Lavender looked up at Melody, who was holding a can of chips and offering the two managers some.
"C'monnn," Melody put the stack of chips on Lavender's paws. "Just a short break!"
"Hey, is there anyone here?" a customer called out.
"Mel, they're calling for you." Willow said to Melody without blinking or turning away from the cameras. "Go back. Leave the chips here."
"Oh-okay!" Melody rushed out the office, leaving the can behind.
Willow reached in and took out a chip before turning to look and smile at Lavender. Lavender smiled back with some awkwardness before eating a chip from the stack.
"Y'know, it's just Tuesday, but I'm so bored of this..." Lavender groaned. "Just hanging around here, doing absolutely nothing..."
"Pretty nice that we haven't gotten any complaints, no?" Willow shrugged. "I mean, I totally agree with you about the boring part, but how would you feel if we got complaints left and right to the point that we'd have to get a third manager?"
"Still, I feel like this is rotten." Lavender ate another chip. "Everyone else is working hard, probably. We're just...uh..."
"No, Volt and Belle also get to hang around until they get the signal. And we hang around until we get a complaint or the signal from them." Willow tossed a chip and chewed on it after she was done speaking.
"Wait, they also have a signal for us?" the Espeon blinked in surprise. "I never knew?"
"If they run out of supplies, what would they do?" Willow closed her eyes to rest them.
"Get it from the back?" Lavender frowned.
"What if the back runs out?" the Leafeon sighed.
Lavender thought about it for a few moments before realizing. "OH! So we go and get them when they run out!"
"So?" Willow didn't do anything.
"Uh...what now?" Lavender glanced at the cameras.
Willow reworded her question. "Under what circumstance would we go to get the supplies for them?"
"When they tell us to...OH, so that's the signal?" the Espeon finally realized what Willow meant.
"Yup."
"Cool, cool...can I still go out and help? Just like what my bro's supposed to be doing?"
"He's helping Bon and Cinna," Willow shrugged. "You could go keep your boyfriend some company. If I need you I'll use the announcements."
"You're just gonna refer to me as Lavender?"
The Leafeon shook her head. "How about...Lilac?"
"LILAC!?" Lavender cried. "NO!"
"Okay, guess I have no choice but to call out your full legal na-"
"FINE!...Fine..." the Espeon hung her head and groaned in defeat. "I'll go for the sake of freedom and be called Lilac."
"Alrighty, see you!" Willow waved politely as Lavender dragged herself out the door.
"Y'know, should we...what?"
Volt was talking to Snowbelle about doing something for fun when the Glaceon saw Lavender trot in quietly.
"Sorry, um...what were you saying?" the Glaceon held back a laugh after Lavender made a goofy face to her.
"What?" Volt narrowed his eyes. "Wh-"
"HEY-"
Lavender jumped at Volt and hugged him before the Jolteon could react.
"Oh, hey love!" Volt hugged her back and smiled at the warmth. "Whatcha doing here?"
"Eh, I was bored and I wanted some fresh air! Need any supplies?" Lavender beamed, her voice sweet like it had just been drowned in a whole bottle of Berry Juice.
"No, the back's full, but thank you." the Jolteon broke away from the hug first.
"Mhmm!" Lavender nodded.
Snowbelle watched the couple talk and laugh before turning to glance at her book that she had put to the side. When she was about to reach for it, a weird idea suddenly popped into her mind. The Glaceon trotted past the book to start baking her own things. Batter...icing...Lavender and Volt's voices were drowned out and she was in her own thoughts, reading out a memorized recipe.
"Hey, Belle!" Lavender turned to Snowbelle. "I was wondering if you could help u-...Belle?"
Snowbelle finished the last muffin before picking up the tray and sliding it into one of the may ovens, still not responding to the Espeon. Lavender tapped Snowbelle on the shoulder to get her attention.
"AAH!" Snowbelle jumped and turned around to see Lavender and Volt staring right at her. "Wha...what...?"
"Uh...why are you baking stuff?" Volt frowned. "We're not short with anything at the front."
"Yeah," the Glaceon spat, annoyed. "I know."
"Geez, just asking a question, no need to get so riled up."
"Uh-huh." Snowbelle rolled her eyes and walked right out of the kitchen without saying anything else.
"Huh?" Lavender turned to Volt for answers, but he was as clueless as her.
