"I would like to speak to your supervisor!"
"Ma'am, please, I promise I'll get it fixed-"
"Now."
Bonfire sighed and shook his head before going over to the office. It had been two months since Snowbelle had offered anyone an off-menu pastry, and everything seemed to be operating smoothly.
Kind of.
Summer offers brought even more customers in, which also included more chances of toxicity and negative customers with nothing better to do other than complaining over the smallest things. The Flareon knocked on the door and Willow opened it while sipping some water.
"Willow?"
"Yeah?" Willow put down the bottle. "Bon, do you need anything? Is it about the window garden? I could take care of it today if you wan-"
"Um...no, it's not about that." Bonfire shook his head. "Someone wants to see you."
"Me? Manager?" the Leafeon's eyes widened, and her voice instantly went into a whisper. "What'd you do, Bon?"
"Nothing! Apparently she didn't like how I took so long and how everything looks 'messy' and 'unorganized' on her plate! I was kind of in a rush, since, y'know, adjust-"
"Bon, it's fine, you don't need to defend yourself, I'm on your side." Willow smiled and bowed her head. "Leave this to me."
"Okay, thanks."
"Yeah, anytime!" Willow got up and trotted out of the office, following Bonfire to the table quietly.
"Mm, so you're the manager?" the Rattata took off her sunglasses and looked at Willow up and down. "Interesting."
"Ma'am, what seems to be the problem here?" the Leafeon already felt annoyed by her voice, but kept her composure steady and calm.
"Your worker is slow, unorganized and isn't a fit to work here! I can't believe everyone on here gave you 4 and 5-stars!"
"Ma'am, I'm going to have to ask you to leave." Willow's voice grew a bit louder in volume.
Bonfire's face went a little red with some embarrassment.
"Well, would you like a 1-star rating!? Huh!?"
"No, ma'am, but you're causing a disruption, which we have a no-tolerance policy on here." the Leafeon was calm. "The food can be on the house, but you need to leave-"
"Will-" Bonfire's eyes widened, but Willow turned her head a little to shake her head.
"The food will be!" the customer sneered while Willow was about to go back into the office. "Gosh, even managers these days can't be helped...all useless and corrupted..."
"Excuse me?" Bonfire, who was originally going to let it go under Willow's orders, turned around and stared the Rattata dead in the eyes. "What did you just say?"
"Say what?" the customer shrunk back a little, surprised.
"What did you say when she went back into her office?" Bonfire repeated.
Willow was about to close the door when she heard the Flareon and immediately turned around.
"I said that managers these days are useless and don't enforce rules enough over lazy brats like y-"
"BON!" Willow screamed in horror, but it was already too late.
"Hold on, we're hiding Bonfire from the police officials?" Volt's eyes widened. "It's not even his fault that lady was being a Karen!"
"It's not his fault that lady has a miserable life, but no matter what, it'll have to be his fault for attacking a customer. At least he didn't break the window, right?" Moonshade sighed and shook his head.
"Guys, what's the story gonna be if the officials pull up and ask to see the Mon that attacked someone?" Lavender asked, holding onto Volt's paw tighter.
"Okay...so say that you fired me!" Bonfire turned to Willow. "And made sure that I won't ever be employed in the same industry ever again."
"What if they ask for Willow to reach out and go to your house to talk to you?" Melody asked.
The Leafeon shrugged. "Then they'll come here. I'll explain that we're all roommates and friends that started a little business for some financial support.."
"So then they won't believe that you actually fired him!" Dewdrop shook her head.
Bonfire groaned in annoyance by the rate of the progression of things. "What if I just fessed up and admitted my mistake? Boom, done."
"Then you'd actually be un-hirable," Snowbelle pointed out. "They'll also kick you out, probably."
"We live near the entrance to a forest, it's not Council property!" Bonfire said. "Besides, it was just an accident. I promise I only just got really really mad and forgot I was customer service except the customer sucks."
"Would they believe you?" Willow bowed her head.
"They better, because I really am telling the truth." Bonfire smiled for her. "Well, uh...dinner?"
"Wanna just go to Fortune Teller and ask Guinevere and Madame Tyche about this?" Dewdrop suggested. "Or temporarily transfer Bonfire there?"
"One, I'm facing my problems because I have to at the end of the day and I might as well just do it willingly at the start. Two, what if the police finds me and get Fortune Teller in trouble instead?" the Flareon squinted his eyes at Dewdrop.
"True, but should we just go for some consulting?"
"I'll stay back and eat a few muffins I baked."
"Dude, how many muffins have you baked already?" Volt narrowed his eyes. "And how are you not tired of them?"
"Because they actually taste good when I bake them?" Snowbelle snapped.
"WOW!" Volt cried out. "AT LEAST I-uh..."
"My point. Wills, wanna have a muffin with me?"
"Hi, guys!" Guinevere greeted them a few moments after the group minus Snowbelle and Willow went into the door.
"Hi Gui! We're kinda in a crisis...can we order and eat with you? I'll pay for your order, I promise!" Dewdrop leaded.
"Uh, I mean, rush hour's basically over, so I could stay for a few moments. C'mon, I have a table for you guys!" Guinevere agreed to Dewdrop and led the group to a table at the back. "You guys want anything to eat?"
"Anything that you rec that we haven't had before," Melody said with a small smile. "We're here more for you and Madame Tyche's advice."
"Ooh, do I also have to get her to come over?" Guinevere laughed a little before gesturing the group to take a seat. "Well, want me to just take the order, put it in, then come back to eat with you guys?"
"Sure!" the group started ordering without saying anything else."Can't believe we got the whole house to ourselves, just like old times, y'know?" Willow flopped onto the sofa and laughed.
Snowbelle bit into a muffin and didn't know how to reply to the second last phrase. Willow realized that she said something wrong and laughed awkwardly.
"Ahah...uh...someday, you should totally teach me how to make your muffin bases!"
"Why not the icings? Think you'd enjoy that more," Snowbelle felt glad about the subject change. "Since base is just making batter and dumping it in the wrappers."
"Kinda..." Willow shook her head and sighed. "Either way, can I have another one?"
"Sure!" Snowbelle took a muffin and gave it to the Leafeon while her eyes sparkled with relief. "Y'know, I feel like Bonfire might like you."
"Sis, you know he doesn't." Willow groaned before biting the muffin.
"He literally attacked someone that insulted you behind your back!" Snowbelle held back a laugh. "That's a bit too sweet of him, no?"
"I heard the insult, I just didn't want to do anything about it." Willow's face had seriousness written all over it, so Snowbelle stopped laughing and quietly nibbled on her own muffin. "I never wanted any conflict with any customers. What Bonfire did was unnecessary. Really unnecessary. He didn't have to risk himself being hunted down by police officials or potentially get hated by other customers that somehow know him."
Snowbelle watched one of her ships fall apart, but didn't say anything. Willow bowed her head, her face a bit red.
"But I do really, sincerely, definitely appreciate it. What he did, if it was intended for me like what you said. Probably not, but I still appreciate him defending me. Y'know? Like, even if it's not his intent-"
"So you do like him?" Snowbelle beamed.
"Perchance." Willow blurted out.
Snowbelle side-eyed her sister. "You can't just say perchance!"
"I just did." the Leafeon shrugged.
"So...Bonfire and Willow is a ship that I'm allowed to use to torment you in a sibling-exclusive way?" Snowbelle asked without stumbling over any of her words.
Willow did a facepalm. "Did you really just say all of that in one breath?"
"Sometimes you gotta just watch your little sister finally grow up and mature and chase a boy that she loves..." Snowbelle sniffled dramatically.
"You-!""Wait...so Bonfire's being hunted by police officials?" Guinevere forked some food and held it up a little.
"Uh-huh, I am." the Flareon in question nodded, a little embarrassed.
"Oh." Guinevere put the food in her mouth and chewed on it slowly, processing everything that the group had just told her.
"Yeah, we're not too sure about what to do when they pull up, so we wanted to ask you for some advice." Melody sighed.
"And why do you think I'd have advice for that?" the Gardevoir narrowed her eyes a little before forking some more food.
"Uhm..." Dewdrop and Melody glanced at each other. "Well...you mostly know what's right, so we'd thought that you were able to help us."
"You were saying the police, no?" Guinevere clarified.
The group nodded all at the same time, other than Cinnamon, who quietly ate her order of cinnamon rolls with a big smile on her face.
"I don't have advice, but I'll do my best to not get the police to come." Guinevere said after swallowing some food.
"And how are you planning to do that?"
"Eh, I'll just ask my dad. He's kinda skeptical in general, but I'm sure it'll be fine. I know that Bonfire's chill and only...wait-why did you attack the Karen?"
"Got really, really mad about her being rude." Bonfire bowed his head a little.
"To you?" Guinevere took a sip from her water.
"Me and Willow." the Flareon's voice was barely audible.
"Ooh, interesting. She's not here today. With Snowbelle?" Guinevere smiled a little.
"Yup." Volt nodded.
"Alright. I never really expected for you to be in the actual wrong. You got provoked, and your automatic system told you to attack, that's all." the Gardevoir comforted.
Dewdrop suddenly remembered something. "Wait, who's your dad?"
Guinevere blinked in confusion. "What do you mean?"
"Like, what job occupation is he?" Melody almost immediately understood what the Vaporeon was hinting at.
"He's the Mayor, why?"
The entire restaurant seemed to have went dead quiet, although it was usually already like that.
"Your dad's the Mayor!?"
