"Snowbelle?"
The Glaceon looked up from her book and instantly recognized Lavender's sweet voice.
"Hey, are you two also going to plan the menu?" Willow's soft voice also surfaced behind the door.
"Yeah." Volt replied.
Snowbelle instantly felt her anger and dislike start to boil upon hearing the Jolteon's voice.
"Can I join?" her sister's soft voice rang out.
"Yeah, of course!"
Putting the bookmark in between the pages where she was reading, Snowbelle realized that she can test Lavender to see if she liked Volt. It seemed pretty obvious, but the Glaceon needed some other side quests to keep her sane and focused on something.
"Is Snowbelle even in here?" Volt asked.
Yes, idiot, I am. Snowbelle thought, sliding her book into her drawer and closing it before someone had knocked again.
"Yes?" the Glaceon responded annoyedly.
"Hey, it's Lavender, Volt and W-"
"Menu planning?" Snowbelle cut Lavender off.
"Um, yeah..."
Snowbelle realized she was being a bit too harsh and instantly felt a pang of guilt and regret.
"Sorry, I'll be out in a sec." the Glaceon apologized.
"Yeah, don't worry about it!" Lavender's voice brightened again, and Snowbelle sighed a breath of relief before trotting over to the door and opening it slowly.
"Oh, hi." Volt greeted awkwardly.
"Hey." Snowbelle responded shortly. "Where are we working again?"
"Basement?" Willow suggested. "It has good noise blockage from the entertainment night they have downstairs right now."
"Oh. Cool." And Lavender has the four of us working on a menu while Dewdrop can supposedly manage her time for her own...
"Maybe not the basement, if that's okay with you guys?" Lavender's smile faded a little. "It hasn't been cleaned since like, we all moved in..."
"Should we get the others to clean it, then?" Willow blinked.
"Then there's no point working in the basement. Snowbelle, can we just stay in your room, maybe?" the Espeon pointed out.
Snowbelle shrugged. "If you want to, sure, I guess. I don't really mind."
"Or my room, maybe?" Willow made eye contact with Snowbelle and blinked a few times.
The Glaceon instantly recognized that as a signal and nodded with her sister. "Yeah, sure, how about your room instead?"
"Okay." Lavender nodded.
"I'm fine with that." Volt agreed.
Willow nodded and quickly blinked at Snowbelle again. "Alright."
Lavender and Volt trotted ahead while making small talk, but Willow stayed behind and went slowly with Snowbelle.
"There's something I need to tell you later. I have a suspicion." Willow muttered to Snowbelle.
"About Volt or about Lav?" Snowbelle whispered back, staring at the two unbothered Eeveelutions in front of them.
"Volt." the Leafeon murmured.
"I also have something about Lav," the older sister added quietly. "Just go to my room when you want to, I don't plan on sleeping for a bit until it's tomorrow."
"You know that's not good for your health, right?" Willow suddenly started talking at a normal volume.
"Huh-" Volt turned around after putting a paw of the door handle. "Why are you two taking so long to just walk down the hall?"
"Oh. Uh...I hit my leg on the wall!..." Snowbelle blurted without much thinking.
"How do you hit your leg on the wall?" Lavender narrowed her eyes.
"She...uh...told a bad joke, then I pretended to attack her and she crashed into the wall and hit her leg." Willow explained, also not putting in much thought.
"Why does that make sense for some reason?" Volt blinked.
"Sibling problems?...heh...?" the Glaceon forced a smile and prayed for Lavender to stop staring at her like that.
The Jolteon shrugged. "Yeah, Dew always laughs too hard and nearly gives herself a concussion from falling."
"Moon's a boring brother," Lavender admitted with a small sigh. "I know he's used to just being there, but it would be nice if he spent the same amount of energy on me like he does with Melody."
Willow opened the door to her room, which was tidy, neat, and organized in a way that everything that's in the room is visible just by standing right outside.
"I've never actually been in your room after we officially moved in..." the Jolteon remembered.
"Yeah," Willow nodded. "I just take some time and organize everything, then make sure I put everything right back to its original position."
"I really like your room," Lavender complimented with a genuine smile. "It just seems so comforting."
"Awh, thanks!" the Leafeon smiled back, while Snowbelle was lost in thought. Yes, she has been in this room many times to chill with her sister, but she had some new clues for her side project of investigating.
Lavender always stayed close to Volt, even if they weren't talking, and also in a way that made others uncomfortable when they saw them. Volt didn't seem like he minded, but his amethyst eyes were always on her sister.
So that's what Willow meant about 'her suspicion'?
