Rosemary opened her eyes to the light. She was in the Cat Room, her family's little own room in the house. She yawned and stood up. Her sister and brother were still snoozing in their own beds. How come you "terrorize" me so much if you can't even wake up in the morning? She thought, growling to herself. She sighed and pushed herself to her paws. She looked at her mother's bed beside her, which was empty. She was probably eating in the kitchen. She got out of her bed and padded into the living room.
The male human was sitting on the couch, eating from his bowl of rice, and watching TV. She looked in the kitchen, and she was right. Her mother was peacefully eating food from her orange bowl. Maple padded to stand beside her, meowed a quick greeting, and plunged her face into her own yellow bowl. They ate these dry pellets, a few slices of meat sometimes, maybe some fruit, and lots of fish.
She was currently eating the dry pellets that the humans gave her every morning. She and her mother finished eating and bounded back to the Cat Room. There, her sister was waking, and her brother was stretching in his bed. "Hello, sleepy-heads." Rosemary meowed, giving them a sweet smile. They glared at her. "Mind your own business, HAIRBALL." Lavender hissed. Maple's head turned sharply to look at Lavender, "Lavender! Stop this INSTANT!" Her mother growled.
Lavender nodded, giving Rosemary a glare full of pure hatred, one that Rosemary could never forget.

It was noon. The sun from the window heated up Rosemary's fur and she snorted crossly, jumping away. "Enjoying the heat?" Thistle said smugly from where stood in front of the air conditioner. "Enjoying the air?" Rosemary snapped, and watched in triumph as Thistle's face fell. He and her sister wanted an easy target to boss around, but she wasn't an "easy" target anymore. She was now bold enough boss them back, now that she was older.
Thistle padded toward her and hissed in her ear as he passed, "I've seen more intelligence from a dust bunny." She glared at him and snapped, "If you were slower, you'd be a slug. And besides, you really fit into your name." Thistle's eyes widened in surprise at the insults, and he hurried away to join the female child on the couch. She watched after him in triumph, she had finally won.
Rosemary and her siblings are six months old in this chapter! I hope you like my book so far! PS: Rosemary said "terrorize" because she is the smallest of her siblings and they tease and bully her about that.
