Paris, May 1832

There is a revolution brewing.

The Les Amis gather every night to plan this rebellion.

No matter how hard she tried to persuade her best friend, he wouldn't let her partake in the rebellion as it was "too dangerous for a girl."

Christine knew Enjolras meant well and just wanted to protect her, but she wanted to fight.

The wasn't just about the men. The women wanted equality too.

As the rebellion went on, Christine began to feel her friend grow cold and distant.

She didn't like the new Enjolras. She wanted the old one back, the one who offered to walk her home when she was merely a stranger to him, the one who found her on the hill just to become friends, the one who dragged her out the house to meet his friends only a week into their friendship. That one she loved. Not the cold, stone-hearted Enjolras.

Eventually, Christine had come to terms with the fact that Enjolras was busy and she stuck to her other friends. Mostly hanging around Éponine and occasionally Courfeyrac.

On this particular day, Enjolras had gathered the Les Amis on the hill behind Christine's house. The hill where they first became friends.

Today was training for the rebellion. Éponine watched from afar but Christine decided she would join.

She knew she couldn't just walk in there, Enjolras wouldn't allow her. So she merely snuck inside her house where she gathered some of her father's clothes.

Enjolras:
Let's get down to business
To defeat the war
Did the send me daughters
When I asked for sons?

You're the saddest bunch I ever met
But you can bet before we're through
Mister, I'll make a man out of you

Tranquil as a forest
But on fire within
Once you find your centre
You a sure to win

You're a spineless, pale, pathetic lot
And your haven't got a clue
Somehow, I'll make a man out of you

Courfeyrac:
I'm never gonna catch my breath

Grantaire:
Say goodbye to those who knew me

Joly:
Why was I fool in school for cutting gym

Éponine:
This guys got him scared to death

Christine:
Hope he doesn't see right though me

Marius:
Now I really wish that I knew how to swim

Enjolras + Les Amis:
We must be swift as the coursing river
(Be a man)
With all the force of a great tycoon
(Be a man)
With all the strength of a raging fire
Mysterious as the dark side of the moon

Enjolras:
Time is racing t'ward us
'Til their guns arrive
Heed my every order
And you might survive

You're unsuited for the rage of war
So pack up, go home, you're through
How could I make a man out of you?

Enjolras + Les Amis:
We must be swift as the coursing river
(Be a man)
With all the force of a great tycoon
(Be a man)
With all the strength of a raging fire
Mysterious as the dark side of the moon

We must be swift as the coursing river
(Be a man)
With all the force of a great tycoon
(Be a man)
With all the strength of a raging fire
Mysterious as the dark side of the moon

"Good training today, everyone." Enjolras congratulated the group as he walked towards Christine, her back turned to him, "Oh, and Christine?" She turned to him as he removed her hat, "Take those clothes off, you aren't fooling anyone."

"She fooled us." Grantaire said on behalf of all the Les Amis.

"Enjolras! Let me fight! I can help you." She pleaded, "Please... Please Enjolras!"

"Christine, stop." He said quietly but she kept pleading.

"Enjolras, I did well and you know I did. Please, I'll be careful..."

"No!" He shouted at her, "I won't allow it and I've told you before, take those off and when you're ready to listen, then you may return to the café! Until then, stay out of the way!" He shouted.

Christine was taken aback by the tone, she didn't say anything. She just span quickly and ran past the man and into her house.

Éponine briefly glared at Enjolras and ran after her, leaving the boys to lecture him.

When Éponine entered her friends house, she heard soft whimpers coming from the bedroom. She pushed the door open to find Christine curled up in her bed, softly crying. His tone had hurt her deeply.

"Christine. He didn't mean to upset you. And I'm not siding with him, he was completely in the wrong, but maybe you should talk to him." Éponine sat herself on the bed and stroked the girls hair.

"I just want to help, and he's changed. He's not the same Enjolras I met and I don't like it." Christine cried.

"It's hurts because you love him." Éponine whispered, "And he's acting this way because he loves you. It's a dangerous world, the one of war, and he just wants to protect you."

"And I want to protect him. Maybe I do love him. But I just wish that he wouldn't be so cruel." Christine matched her friends hushed tone.

The friends sat in silence until Éponine could hear the soft snores of Christine, she soon fell asleep with her and when Christine's father arrived, he smiled and threw a blanket over the pair.
