*December 20th- three days before the wedding*

Kate hadn't specifically asked Jack to change the date of the winter benefit he was throwing. She was fully prepared to fly out there the day before the wedding, attend the event with Yelena and fly back the same night. When she had approached Jack to find out if there was someone else who could close down the event so he could fly back with them he said he would take care of it. The next morning, Kate received a message from him saying he pushed the benefit back until February. She wasn't sure how or why but she also wasn't going to question it. This meant that Kate could stay home and focus all her nervous energy on the wedding.

Kate sure did have a lot of nervous wedding energy. The butterflies in her stomach started to feel more like moths. She was currently in the living room pacing back and forth while Peter read over her vows. "We should've just used the generic one. I'm not good at this." Kate had thought about trying to find her old ADHD medication but was sure it was well past expired.

"Okay," Peter lowered the paper. "It's not terrible."

"Generally the word terrible means bad, Peter."

Peter looked back down and read, "it was totally cool that you didn't kill me that night," he lowered the paper, "I'm just not sure that's good for a wedding vow but I've also never been married."

"Yeah I was unsure about that part myself, I just kind of word vomited on paper."

Peter handed her back the piece of paper, "have you thought that maybe you should just get up there and wing it?"

"That was Alexei's suggestion but usually when I take Alexei's advice it doesn't go well for me."

"But think about it," Peter couldn't believe he was agreeing with Alexei here. "If you go up there winging it, it wouldn't sound like a rehearsed speech. You'll be speaking directly from your heart and that's kind of beautiful, isn't it?"

Kate sat down next to Peter, resting her head on the back of the couch, "I just don't want to embarrass Yelena if I accidentally say something stupid."

"Why would she be embarrassed?"

Kate shrugged, "I just don't want to ruin the wedding."

"Well that seems like a ridiculous amount of pressure to put on yourself. I really doubt prewritten vows will ruin the wedding."

"I wonder if Yelena wrote her vows?"

"You could ask her."

Kate's head turned to look at her friend, "are you kidding? Then she'll know I'm struggling to write my own. I just want them to be perfect."

"I'm team winging it," Peter grabbed the paper again. "But I can help you revise this if you really want to. 'Yelena, you make great Mac and cheese' also probably isn't something you want in the vows."

"But it's true," Kate grumbled as she snatched her paper back.

"Katie," the back door opened and they turned to see Natasha coming inside. "I have bad news and worse news all wedding related. Which would you like first?"

The name Katie was new and Kate corrected her the first two times Natasha started calling her that. She had overheard Clint use it during a video chat and Kate knew she was only doing it to get under her skin and it was working. "Can I pick neither?"

"I mean you could," Natasha took a seat across from them. "Oh what are we working on?"

Kate tried to grab the paper back but it was too late, "that's just a draft."

Natasha started laughing, "oh wow. This is a masterpiece."

Kate frowned, snatching the paper back, "I said it was a draft."
