Being Real

Forgive me if I may sound bitter.
Forgive me everyone I may trigger.
Forgive me if I insult your favorite figure.
But for what I'm about to say I need everybody to come hither.
I support all kings and queens.
But just observe the way we're seen.
Think of every soul who's crossed your screens.
Think of every person with less talent than you and me.
Success isn't earned anymore, don't you agree?
Think of the opportunities we've missed by not getting on our knees.
The men who's given up their manhood as a collected fee.
The sellouts who play into the stereotypes they already believe.
And when I say they, you know who I mean.
Their track record also isn't so clean.
But let's focus on the brown people's dreams.
What makes them a star when it's people like us running teams?
Making sure their careers are spotless behind the scenes.
Think of the beauty who they told she was too curvy.
Talented as hell, but somehow still unworthy.
Think of the guy who for fashion had one hell of an eye.
They forced a ball in his hands, I wonder why.
Everyday us regular people pray for a shot.
Everyday somebody undeserving takes the spot.
Follow your dreams.
Their favorite phrase.
If you're lucky to score attention, it's only a phase.
You're gonna have to compromise your morals and values to get that raise.
The glitz and the glamour.
We're chasing it like a mouse running from a hammer.
Ask how they get so far and everybody stammers.
Where are our icons with manners?
They're struggling.
Life, their dreams and responsibilities.. they're juggling.
They're losing their passions.
They're fanning that flame before their dreams become ashes.
They trained their whole life to sing.
To dance.
To act.
To fight.
To rap.
To write.
Watching the ones who didn't desire it become that overnight.
Infuriating right?
Why you think trolls exist online, spite?
They're tired of being in the dark begging for light.
Now I'm not saying their bitterness is right.
But we have to stand for something in the biggest height.
My words will be like bait for the hit dogs who bite.
But I guarantee they'll resonate even out of your sight.
You deserve success no matter your body type.
You deserve success even if you want the same sex partner in your life.
Success doesn't have to end with being a husband or a wife.
Success doesn't mean you have to be a parent.
Success is inevitable long as you're coherent.
Confident.
Intelligent.
Diligent.
You'll look back on your life and be thankful for your extra time spent.
Your memories you've made and how much they meant.
The materials don't equate to our happiness and values.
We can look at ourselves in a fulfilling way.
We don't have to worry about being loved and despised the next day.
That's the real dream.. for our happiness to stay.
