Not The Time

You ever felt like you already met your soulmate?
A minute too early or maybe a minute too late?
You can't help to constantly think of the beginning when times are great.
The times before the trauma and spewing hate.
That honeymoon period.
Before the love got deep and oh so serious.
That person that feels so comfortable and familiar.
Before they became that stranger who's behaving peculiar.
Sleeping under each other, cuddled under covers.
You thought that was your endgame lover?
Until they decided your world wasn't worth the one they leave to discover.
What do you do now?
When you feel like that feeling can't be found?
When everybody else wants to play around?
Go running back or standing your ground?
How? when the sound of their voice is your favorite sound.
Not a vacation that'll match the trip they took you on to pound town.
If they're taking things too fast , don't slow it down.
Appreciate the ones who know.
The ones who don't need a little time to grow.
That's the one who'll truly hate to see you go.
Don't hesitate to find love and commit.
Because the streets can't offer you shit.
Don't trade companionship for a quick dime.
Or for a sweaty good time.
How come nobody wants to be in love?
They rather waste time, money and energy in clubs.
Out with the guys, watching strippers throwing dubs.
Women wanting what others already have to sit online throwing subs.
I want the long talks, intimate dates and back rubs.
The hand holding, and bonding over clothes folding.
I want the family, the marriage and partnership.
I wish this new wave would realize love is the titanic and it's a sinking ship.
This generation yearns for love but pretends not to care.
They all love to sneak and share.
Ignoring the real ones who are really there.
It's amazing how we make life for us everything but fair.
Maybe I experienced real love in my last lifetime.
Or hopefully the next I'll meet my true lifeline.
Because now is clearly not the time.
