The phone rings, and Jason answers, sounding cheerful.
Jason: Hey, Travis! What's up, man?
Travis: (sounding distressed) Hey, Jason. I... I need to talk to you, bro. I messed up.
Jason: (immediately concerned) Whoa, what's going on? You sound serious. Are you okay?
Travis: (taking a deep breath) No, I'm really not. I did something terrible. I don't even know how to say this, but... I cheated on Taylor.
There's a stunned silence on the other end of the line.
Jason: (in disbelief) What? Are you serious? Travis, come on, man, don't mess around with stuff like this.
Travis: (voice shaking) I wish I was joking. I was out with some friends, had too much to drink, and... I made a huge mistake. I can't believe I did this.
Jason: (shock turning to concern) Dude... that's serious. How did this happen? I thought things were great between you two.
Travis: (sighing) They were. They are. I don't know what got into me. It was just a stupid, reckless moment. Now I'm sitting here, feeling like the worst person in the world.
Jason: (voice softening) Man, I don't know what to say. This is huge. Have you told Taylor?
Travis: (shaking head, even though Jason can't see) No, not yet. I don't know how. I can't bear to hurt her, but I know I have to come clean.
Jason: (sighing deeply) Yeah, you do. She deserves to know. But, Travis, how could you let this happen? You love her.
Travis: (voice breaking) I know, I know. It was just one mistake, but it was the worst one I could make. I feel so guilty, Jason. I don't want to lose her, but I know I probably will.
Jason: (trying to comfort) Listen, man, everyone makes mistakes, but this... it's a big one. You have to face the consequences, whatever they are. It's the only way to move forward, whether she forgives you or not.
Travis: (sounding desperate) What if she doesn't? What if I've ruined everything?
Jason: (pausing) I don't know, Travis. That's up to her. But you can't keep this from her. You need to be honest, and you need to be prepared for whatever comes next.
There's a heavy silence, the weight of the situation pressing down.
Travis: (voice steadying) You're right. I need to tell her. But, Jason... there's something else I need to tell you.
Jason: (hesitant) What is it?
Travis: (smiling slightly) This was all just a prank. I didn't cheat on Taylor. She's right here with me, and we're both fine.
There's a moment of stunned silence, followed by a burst of laughter from Taylor in the background.
Taylor: (laughing) Hey, Jason! Sorry, we couldn't resist!
Jason: (relieved and exasperated) Are you kidding me?! You guys are the worst! I was seriously worried for you, man!
Travis: (laughing) Sorry, dude. We just wanted to see your reaction. It was all Taylor's idea!
Taylor: (still laughing) Blame me! I thought it would be hilarious.
Jason: (still catching his breath) Wow, you guys. That was intense. But seriously, don't scare me like that again! You had me thinking the worst.
Travis: (chuckling) Yeah, sorry about that. We owe you one. But hey, at least now we know you're always there for us, even when we mess up big time.
Jason: (laughing) Well, I guess that's what friends are for. But I'm definitely getting you back for this!
Taylor: (smiling) Fair enough. We'll be watching our backs!
Jason: (grinning) You better. But seriously, I'm glad it was just a joke. You guys are great together. Don't mess it up!
Travis: (grateful) Thanks, man. We really appreciate you. And sorry again for the scare.
Jason: (good-naturedly) It's all good. Just... maybe prank me with something less heart-attack-inducing next time, okay?
Taylor: (giggling) Deal!
Travis: (smiling) Deal. We love you, Jason.
Jason: (smiling back) Love you guys too. Talk to you later!
The call ends, leaving Jason shaking his head and chuckling to himself.
