By the time dinner was served, Taylor's nerves were frayed. The comments had escalated, and she felt overwhelmed. Excusing herself from the table, she said she needed a moment alone. She slipped out to the balcony, seeking a reprieve from the emotional strain.
The night air was cool, but it did little to calm her. Taylor leaned against the railing, tears streaming down her face. The hurtful comments and the sense of exclusion were too much to bear. She took deep breaths, trying to regain her composure, but the weight of the day was heavy on her.
Inside, Travis noticed Taylor's absence and grew concerned. "Where's Taylor?" he asked, looking around with growing worry.
Kylie shrugged nonchalantly. "I think she went to the bathroom. She seemed a bit overwhelmed."
Travis's concern deepened, and he excused himself from the table, searching the house for her. When he found the balcony door slightly ajar, he pushed it open and saw Taylor standing by the railing, her shoulders shaking with silent sobs.
"Taylor?" Travis's voice was soft, filled with concern and confusion.
She turned, hastily wiping her tears. "I'm fine, Travis. I just needed some air."
Travis could see through her forced calm. "You don't have to pretend with me. I saw how they were treating you. It's not right."
Taylor shook her head, her voice trembling. "It's okay. I'm used to these kinds of comments. I don't want to make a scene."
Travis's frustration grew. "No, it's not okay. You shouldn't have to put up with this. You deserve better."
Taylor looked away, trying to hold back her tears. "I don't want to cause trouble with your family. It's important to you, and I don't want to make things worse."
Travis took her hand, his resolve firm. "I won't stand by while they treat you like this. You deserve respect, and I'm going to make sure you get it.
