Her flight was at noon but by the time she landed in Detroit it 6pm. They explained something about flying back in time? She wasn't really listening. She was excited to be home. Her father had promised to pick her up after work. When she arrived at baggage claim, he was there, waiting. "Daddy!" she yelling, throwing her arms around him, "I'm so happy to be home."
"I'm glad your home, too. I've missed my baby girl and your mother is in a rage about Lex's college choice. Maybe you can calm her down." Davidson Stuart hoped having her daughters back would calm her down. She was going on and on about everyone leaving her and as much as he tried to explain that is was truly her own doing, she would not listen. She was as stubborn as an ox.
When they finally arrived at her childhood home, she was overjoyed to see that her mother had 'made' a dinner. It was still take out, but she had put it on plates instead of leaving it in the cardboard. That was amazing. The last time they used dishes was a few Christmas's ago. "Evangeline!" he mother called. "I'm so glad you are home! Two weeks with both my daughters."
"Hi, mom. How are you?" Eva sighed. She didn't listen for the answer as she dragged her suitcase up the stairs to her room.
"Psst...Eva! Come here!" She could hear Lex call her from her room.
"What?" She threw herself on Lex's bed.
"Okay, mom made the plane reservations for your wedding! I'm not kidding. They will be there the day before. They are taking an overnight flight with Andrew and Cindy."
"Who is Cindy?" Eva asked.
"Andrew's girlfriend. I haven't met her yet." Lex explained. "But that's not the best part! She's letting me miss school! I get to come an entire week early! And I've been talking to Dylan and we have the most amazing weekend planned! And, I tricked her into a trip to Chicago when the boys are there. Mother of the bride dress shopping. She's made an appointment at Macy's and Niemans with personal shoppers! We can sneak away and leave her with dad! I'm going to see Niall!" Lex was wiggling around like a puppy.
"So, mom is coming to the wedding? None of her bullshit?"
"Well, she still thinks you are far to young, both of you, but she promised not to object. She's got a divorce lawyer waiting." Lex laughed,
"Shut up!" Eva said and threw a pillow at her sister.
"Girls! Dinner! It's getting cold!" they heard their mother call.
Lex rolled her eyes. "Like she made it or something! It's just Olive Garden." They both got up anyway and headed downstairs.
Eva called Liam that night, just before his show. She told him everything that Lex had said, except the Chicago part. She wanted that to be a surprise.
"Wow. So the old battle ax gave in. Amazing." Liam said. "Look,I have to go. I love you. I'll call you later."
She hung up feeling that everything was going to work out.
The next morning, she awoke to a text from Britney. Two hundred yes's to the wedding so far. She needed to order the favors. She needed to confirm that she had decided on the 'I lilly love you" purple flower shaped soap. She wanted to order three hundred. Eva texted back that it was fine.
Britney: Just so you know, the soap place is giving you an amazing discount and throwing in 300 place card holders that are also flowers.
Eva: That's really great.
Eva wondered what place card holders were. She still didn't really understand why giving everyone soap was better than candy. If she was at a wedding, she'd want free candy, but that wasn't classy enough.Eva tried to tell them she didn't need classy. She needed candy.
