Africa was the most amazing place Eva had ever been. The city was just a city and the concerts were just concerts. She'd also discovered that hotels around the world were pretty much the same. But, then it was time for the safari. They only had two days and one night to see what normally took a week, but Liam made sure that every moment counted.
He has picked the most romantic, amazing room he could find. It had no walls. It was an open air platform with different levels. The top level had a huge bed surrounded by mosquito netting. There was also a small dining table so they could have dinner under the stars. Down one more level, there was a giant bath tub overlooking a watering hole that was frequented by the elephants that lived on the reserve. The ground level had a small walk in, walled bathroom and sitting area for their luggage. The entire thing was detached from the hotel and she felt as if she were living a treehouse.
The first day was a driving tour of the coast. Eva saw antelope, ostriches and baboons. Liam had to keep her in the car and laughed at her as she yelled "Rafiki!" At every baboon they saw. They stopped where the Atlantic Ocean became the Indian Ocean at the very tip of the continent. They watched as the two oceans came together at the most southern tip of Africa.
They went up the other side of the continent and shopped a few seaside towns. Lunch was in a small seafood restaurant with a view of the fisherman coming in and out, working on their fishing boats. All of the boats seemed to be painted in different colors. She'd grown up in a water town! She was used to boats, white boats. All of the colors seem exotic to her, red, blue, and yellows. She watched as men unloaded their catch. The fish they ate had been alive and swimming just moments before. The idea was both fascinating and creepy to Eva. She never really thought about where food came from. It just appeared.
After lunch, they stopped at a place called Boulders Beach. Again, Eva had been to many beaches, but this one had penguins. African penguins! She had no idea there was even such a thing. She watched them waddle around clumsily. She made Liam carry her piggyback because the rocks on the beach were hard to walk on and she kept slipping. "We should put our feet in the ocean, Liam!" she declared.
"I think you mean my feet." He laughed. He waded out until he was up to his knees. "Want down?" he asked.
"Is it cold?"
"Nope!" he said and then dropped her. It was freezing! She was soaked from her waist down. Liam stood there laughing. "HaHa, funny man." she said, walking toward him. He knew he better run, so he turned, ran and tripped, face first in the water. Eva covered her mouth and laughed. Suddenly he was up and dove toward her. She ran for all she was worth, laughing and screaming. He caught her just before she hit the shore. He grabbed her from behind, wrapping his arms around her waist and swung her in a circle. "Don't Liam!" she screamed. She was still laughing. She couldn't seem to stop. Finally, he set her down, turned her to him and kissed her.
"You are such a pain in the ass!" he laughed.
"And you love me for it!" Eva told him. He couldn't agree more.
Finally, the last stop was at the oldest winery in the country. They tasted a few and picked one to take back with them to drink with dinner. Liam held her close as the approached the hotel. "Are you having fun, love?" he asked.
"So much, Liam! But you swear to god I'm not going to get eaten by a Lion tonight?" She was a bit worried about the open air idea. It sounded romantic in theory. In reality, it seemed reckless. Like, slapping a sign on yourself that said, EAT ME!
"They wouldn't have it available if it wasn't safe, silly." Liam assured her. Dinner was waiting for them, along with a group of elephants who were drinking at the waterhole, as promised by the staff. She almost wondered if Liam paid extra for the elephants. It seemed too good to be true. They sat in the tub, soaking and watching the elephants play as the sun went down.
"Okay, that sunset is amazing. I keep using that word. I need a new word. Magnificent? Yes. That's it." Eva sighed as the sky went from orange to red and finally total darkness. "Can we move here? Forget the wedding. You can catch fish on one of those boats. I'll wait tables. We can make love under the stars every night!"
"If only" Liam mumbled into her ear. "Let's try out the bed. I'm exhausted." They climbed out of the tub, wrapping themselves in huge white fluffy towels. They went up to the top level and climbed into the bed, pulling the netting so that is fell around them.
"Look at the stars! You can see all them! No city lights. No clouds. I've never seen anything so beautiful in my life." Eva sighed.
"I have." Liam said. He wasn't looking at the stars.
Eva turned at looked at him. Blushing, she said "Nobody can compare to this view."
"You do. You are my magnificent view." He reached out and placed a hand on her cheek, pulling her closer. He brought his lips to hers, kissing her slowly, deeply before moving to hover over her. "I can't wait to marry you." He kissed her again as she wrapped her legs around him. She couldn't speak, she was too caught up in the moment, the stars and him. He made love to her slowly, savoring every kiss, every touch, every thrust. Eva's breathes became rapid and she put her hands into Liam's hair, arching her neck so he could access every bit of her flesh.
"Oh, Liam." She moaned. "I love you." Her chest was heaving and she could feel the tingling sensation start in her pelvis, creeping slowly up her body. "Oh, god. I'm so close" Liam thrusted harder, faster and the feeling came over her entire body, exploding within her. "Don't stop, Liam! Please don't stop!" she cried out feeling that rush that made her quiver all over. Finally, she couldn't hold it in any longer. Her back arched and all of the feelings of pleasure made her scream out, "Yes!" as she reached her peak. She could feel Liam twitching inside her before he collapsed on top of her, breathing heavily.
Liam rolled to one side, still out of breath and looked up into the endless night sky. "That was incredible." he said.
Eva moved herself onto his chest and he wrapped his arm around her. For once, Eva didn't have a funny quip back. She completely agreed. She'd never forget this day or this night.
