The next day, Evie sat in chemistry class beside Doug, nervously rummaging through her bag. She was searching for her magic mirror, the one she relied on for everything. As she continued to search, the teacher's voice cut through the classroom, dripping with sarcasm.

"Looking for something?" the teacher asked mockingly, holding up the very item she was searching for. Evie looked up, shocked to see her magic mirror in his hand.

"Thank you, Chad," the teacher continued, his tone laced with disdain. "It's gratifying to see someone still respects the honor code. It will be my recommendation that you are expelled."

Evie's heart sank as she turned to see Chad smirking arrogantly from across the room. Panic and disbelief welled up inside her. "Mr. Deley, I..." she began, desperate to explain, but before she could finish, Doug stood up, cutting her off.

"But that isn't fair. Obviously, she wasn't cheating since she didn't have that... whatever it is," Doug argued, his voice firm and protective.

Evie, still trying to explain, chimed in, "It's called a magic mir—"

"Stop," Doug interrupted her, more sternly this time, not wanting her to say anything that could make the situation worse. "You're not helping."

Evie looked down, feeling a mix of frustration and gratitude for Doug's support.

"Maybe she needed another pencil," Doug suggested, trying to offer a plausible excuse.

"Actually, I was..." Evie attempted again, but Doug quickly cut her off, "Really, don't help. Please." He turned to the teacher, his tone almost pleading, "Please."

The teacher looked at them both, considering for a moment before making his decision. "Well, if you can pass this test, I'll return your property and let the matter drop."

A wave of relief washed over Evie and Doug as they exchanged a quick smile. But as Evie glanced over at Chad, her relief was replaced with anger. He was still smirking, clearly enjoying her discomfort. With renewed determination, Evie glared at him before turning her attention to the test in front of her.

She picked up her pen, her mind focused and clear. She would pass this test, not just for herself, but to wipe that smug look off Chad's face.

At the picnic area of Auradon Prep, Doug was sitting alone, diligently working on some homework. His focus was interrupted when Evie came rushing towards him, her face glowing with excitement. She practically bounced over to him, a beaming smile lighting up her features.

"Doug, look!" she exclaimed, pulling out her test papers and thrusting them proudly in his direction. A bold B+ was marked at the top of the page.

"For the first time, it's like I'm more than just a pretty face," Evie said, her voice filled with a mix of disbelief and pride.

Doug looked up at her, chuckling warmly. "A shocker, huh?"

Evie sat down beside him, her happiness evident in the way her eyes sparkled. "You were pretty great in there," she said, her voice softer now, full of gratitude.

"So were you," Doug replied, gazing into her eyes, impressed by her determination and intelligence.

Evie's smile widened as she looked at him dreamily. "I bet I can get an 'A' on the next test without the mirror."

"Yeah? Well, maybe we can get together and study or just hang out..." Doug suggested, trailing off as he noticed Evie nodding softly, her agreement unspoken but clear.

"Yeah, let's get together," Evie replied, her voice carrying a hopeful note.

Their moment was suddenly interrupted by Mal, who came striding towards them, her energy frantic and agitated. "There you are! I have been looking for you literally everywhere!" Mal's voice was urgent, almost panicked.
