Earlier that day, the Fish and Chips shop was dimly lit, with the air filled with the salty tang of the sea. Maddox sat nervously at a table with Uma and Harry, feeling the weight of Harry's intense gaze on him. The place was packed with the usual crowd, but the chatter around them faded into the background as Harry leaned forward, his expression curious yet calculating.
"So, tell me," Harry began, his voice dripping with casual menace, "what exactly are you to my sister?"
Maddox swallowed hard, feeling the heat rise in his cheeks. "Well, um," he stuttered, glancing at Uma for some sort of reprieve but finding none. "I guess... I'm her best friend? We hang out a lot, and I help her when she's feeling down. She misses her family often, so I always encourage her to be herself."
Uma raised an eyebrow, her skepticism evident. "You like her more than a best friend, don't you?"
Maddox's blush deepened, and he struggled to find the right words. "Well—"
But Harry cut him off, leaning in with a wide, mischievous grin. "I like you more than that prissy prince Ben."
Maddox, taken aback, tried to correct him. "Well, he's actually a king—"
"Maddox," Harry interrupted with an exaggerated flourish, "now that we're friends, I've decided to make you my new project!"
Uma looked at Harry, baffled. "You what?"
Harry simply waved her off, turning his attention fully to Maddox, who was growing more nervous by the second. "You really don't have to do that," Maddox stammered.
"I know," Harry replied with a gleeful grin, "that's what makes me so nice!"
Uma snorted, amused at the irony of Harry calling himself nice. But Harry was on a roll, standing up and launching into an impromptu song, his voice filled with dramatic flair.
"Whenever I see someone less fortunate than I
And let's face it, who isn't less fortunate than I?
My tender heart tends to start to bleed
And when someone needs a makeover
I simply have to take over!
I know, I know exactly what they need!"
Harry sauntered around Maddox, placing his hands on the purple-haired boy's shoulders and smirking. Maddox tensed up, his eyes darting to Uma, silently pleading for help. But Uma just shook her head, grinning widely. This was too entertaining to interrupt.
"And even in your case
Though it's the toughest case I've yet to face,
Don't worry, I'm determined to succeed!
Follow my lead
And yes indeed, you will be..."
Harry yanked Maddox up from his seat, pulling him into the middle of the room, ignoring the bewildered look on Maddox's face.
"A villain!
You're gonna be a villain!
I'll teach you the proper poison
When you talk to princes
Little ways to flirt and curse
Ooh!
I'll show you what shoes to wear!
How to fix your hair!
Everything that really counts to be..."
Harry eyed Maddox's clothes and hair with exaggerated distaste, while Maddox glanced down at himself, feeling increasingly self-conscious.
"A Villain!
