Back at the hideout, Mal paced back and forth, tension radiating off her in waves. The rest of the group sat in various states of worry and frustration, their minds racing for a solution.
"There's no way we're gonna give Uma the wand," Evie said, her voice firm. "We can't just let her destroy Auradon."
"But if Uma doesn't get the wand, then Ben is toast," Carlos argued, his tone laced with anxiety.
"So, what are we supposed to do? Hand over the wand and hope she doesn't do anything crazy?" Evie shot back, crossing her arms.
Jay, leaning against the wall, sighed. "Do we have another choice?"
Just then, Mal's eyes lit up as an idea struck her. "Wait! You guys! Your 3D printer," she exclaimed, the gears in her mind turning rapidly.
"A phony wand?" Carlos asked, catching on to her plan.
"Yes!" Evie said, her face brightening with excitement.
Jay grinned, already preparing mentally. "I could make it in my sleep."
But Evie, ever the realist, paused, her excitement tempered by caution. "And the second Uma tests it, she'll know it's fake."
Mal nodded, acknowledging the risk. "Okay, so then we just get the boys out really fast. We need some kind of diversion."
"Smoke bombs!" Jay interjected, and Mal pointed at him, agreeing.
"That's perfect. I'll get the chemicals I need from Lady Tremaine's place," Mal said, already formulating a plan in her mind.
As Mal talked strategy, Evie stepped closer, eyeing Mal's hair. "Oh, and sick hair, by the way. Evil Stepmom seriously stepped up her game."
Mal grinned, pleased with the compliment. "Okay, do you want to know something? Dizzy did this. And Elina's too."
"Little Dizzy? Shut up!" Evie's disbelief quickly turned into pride as Mal nodded, grinning.
"I know, right? I'm loving it. It's like, a lot lighter," Mal said, sharing a rare moment of levity amidst the tension.
"Really proud of her," Evie said, her voice filled with warmth. But their moment was cut short by Carlos's polite cough, reminding them of the task at hand.
"Right," Mal nodded, refocusing. She clapped her hands, bringing everyone's attention back to the plan. "Carlos, Jay, you guys meet us at Pirate's Bay no later than noon. And you guys, losing—"
"Not an option," the group finished together, their voices resolute.
"Because we're rotten..." Mal started.
"To the core," they all chorused, their determination unshakeable.
"Let's do this," Evie said, as they all moved out, each with a role to play in the plan. The stakes were high, but they were ready to take on whatever came their way.
In Dizzy's small shop, the atmosphere was filled with the clatter of sewing machines and the rustling of fabrics. The shop was cozy and cluttered, with various materials and trinkets scattered around, each telling a story of creativity and resourcefulness. Mal and Evie entered quietly, trying not to disturb the focused young girl.
Evie put a finger to her lips, signaling Mal to stay silent as she tiptoed towards Dizzy, who was engrossed in her work. Dizzy's back was turned as she stitched a piece of fabric, her hands moving swiftly and expertly.
Evie crouched down next to her, a playful smile on her face. "Evie?" Dizzy's confused voice broke the silence before she turned, eyes wide with surprise. When she realized it was really Evie, she sprang up, throwing her arms around her tightly. "Evie! You came back!"
