Jay entered the gym with confidence, calling out, "Let's bring it in, boys." The group of guys, who had been scattered around, stood up and gathered around him, curious to hear what he had to say. Jay looked at them seriously. "All right. You all know I come from the Isle, right? Things are pretty whack over there. But there's one thing the Isle's got on Auradon: if you're strong, we want you by our side—girl or boy."
Chad, who had been watching with a smirk, leaned over to Jay, chuckling as he tried to put him in his place. "Hey, Jay, hold on here. We don't break the rules here in Auradon. That's over on the Isle." He continued smugly, "The team shall be comprised of a captain and eight men."
But Jay wasn't deterred. He ignored Chad's attempt to undermine him and announced, "So, uh... give it up for your new team captain." With that, Lonnie walked in, her head held high and a proud smile on her face.
"What?!" Chad exclaimed, his shock evident.
Lonnie accepted the whistle Jay handed her with a confident, "Thank you." The boys clapped for their new captain, acknowledging her leadership with bows.
Chad, still reeling from the surprise, sighed, "Fine," and reluctantly bowed too, his expression one of defeat.
Lonnie didn't miss a beat. She blew the whistle sharply and commanded, "Give me 10! Come on, guys." The guys immediately dropped to the ground, doing push-ups. As Chad struggled, Lonnie placed her foot on his back, adding a playful taunt, "Pick it up, Chad." She turned to Jay with a grin. "Nice form, Jay."
Jay laughed, appreciating her humor. "Okay, practice is over. Get out of here. Go get ready for Cotillion," Lonnie called out, dismissing the team. As the others began to leave, Lonnie turned back to Jay, a proud smile lighting up her face.
"Hey, Jay," she called, catching his attention as he was about to leave.
"Yeah?" he asked, turning to face her.
"Wait until I tell my mom," Lonnie said, her voice filled with excitement and pride.
Jay smiled back at her, pleased with the decision they had made. "Let's get out of here," he said, and together, they walked out of the gym, ready to face whatever came next.
Evie was focused on the intricate details of the dresses she was working on when a knock interrupted her concentration. Without looking up, she called out, "Come in."
The door opened, and Doug walked in, a hint of playful frustration in his voice. "I have a scout badge in s'mores! How could you go camping without me?"
Evie looked up, clearly confused. "What?"
Doug's expression turned a bit more serious as he asked, "Are you seeing someone else?" He walked closer to her, his tone a mix of worry and curiosity. "Are you?"
Evie shook her head, still a bit baffled by his questions. "No."
Doug, still unsure, pressed on. "Is it Happy's son? Because let me tell you, he is not as happy as his dad. Kind of a dark streak, in fact," he rambled, his thoughts racing ahead of him.
Evie finally put down her work and smiled softly at Doug, realizing where all of this was coming from. "Doug, Ben was captured on the Isle. We rescued Ben and saved Auradon."
Doug paused, absorbing her words. "So you're not seeing Happy's son or anyone else?"
"Don't be dopey," she teased gently, taking his hands in hers and kissing his cheek. "Besides, we have dresses to deliver. It is Cotillion day, after all. And you know what? I was lucky enough to have been given a chance, and now I need to give someone else a chance, too."
