Killer's POV:

My internal thoughts were tormenting me again. Imagining Crecent waking up alone in the room with his pupils reflecting the fear of having been abandoned made me feel so uneasy that I was not able to simply go to my room so that by sleeping apart again we would gradually distance ourselves.

'My little young prince... What should I do to not feel so helpless just imagining separating you from my side? How is it possible that someone so small can cause me so much torment, especially after everything I've had to go through?' I thought as I gently squeezed the tiny skeletal hand I held.

Yesterday I had decided to do everything possible to draw a line that would make me understand that the little one who has been left in my care is nothing more than the son of my former love, who has the same name as the treasure I lost and a reflection than I could have had with my little crescent moon...

"Mmn...Mom?" I heard the little boy speak, who rubbed his eye sockets sleepily, managing to get me out of my thoughts.

'Mom' a memory from the past came to my mind, a memory of how excited I felt to discover that I had the opportunity to start my own family.

"I'm glad you're awake, young prince" I responded, managing to form a small smile, but inside I couldn't help but feel as if I had taken a bitter pill.

"Young...Prince?" He questioned, tilting his head, showing his confusion.

"That's correct, your dad is the owner of this castle, right?" I tried to explain, faking a smile. "Only great kings own a castle, and that would make you... the prince of this great dwelling! " I emphasized, exclaiming the last part and waving my arms simulating how big the place was.

Crescent looked at me stunned, his large sockets blinking as if he were processing the information.

"You're right!" The little boy exclaimed, standing up on the bed with great energy. "I am the prince of this castle and everyone has the duty to obey me!" He proclaimed, lifting his chest more than proudly and placing his hands on his waist. His voice echoed throughout the room, filling me with a heavy mix of tenderness and frustration.

With his proclamation I bent one knee, carefully took his right hand and lowered my head making a somewhat exaggerated bow touching the back of his hand.

"Of course, your royal highness and young prince of this castle, I, your humble servant, declared my complete loyalty and obedience to you" my voice sounded empty, even to me.

"No" Crescent said suddenly, his tone sounding as sharp as a dagger, to the point that I couldn't help but feel a chill run down my spine.

"No? What do you mean young prince?" I asked, raising my head and separating it from the back of the minor's hand. "Will you not accept the loyalty and obedience of this subject?" I asked again, trying to get an answer to his sudden change in mood.

Crescent showed a displeased expression towards my question, crossing his arms and frowning slightly.

'He really is the boss's son' I thought when I saw how he perfectly imitated his father's expression.

"You are not my servant or subject. If dad is the king and I am a prince..." he continued, getting off the bed and standing in front of me, pointing an accusing finger at me. "That makes mom the queen!" he exclaimed.

'Mom' a word that upon hearing it for the first time made my soul leap for the possibility that my treasure, my little crescent moon was still by my side, but that now only brings me comfort and at the same time melancholy. I should have expected it, after all, in his eyes I am still his mother. I thought that with this new tactic he would realize how low my position as his father's subordinate is and that when he noticed it he would start treating me like what I am, but apparently even something like this didn't make him see reason.

'Little children are too stubborn' I thought, feeling defeated for the second time. If I want this conversation to end, I have no choice but to give up.

"Okay, okay" I conceded, softening my voice involuntarily "If you say I'm the queen, I am" I stated.

To finally change the subject I added: "But what do you think if we better go have breakfast and then welcome our new partner?" I said, trying to sound as enthusiastic as possible.

This caught the minor's attention, causing him to forget the previous conversation as he had planned.

"New partner? Is that who you were talking about with Uncle Dust yesterday?" He asked, denoting his curiosity.

"Yes, I've wanted to introduce her to you for a while, I'm sure you'll like each other" I answered confidently.

"I already want to meet Vinny, let's hurry!" He responded excitedly trying to immediately walk out the door, being stopped by me.

"I'm surprised you guessed it was her" I praised him, stroking his head "But not so quickly young man, first a bath, then breakfast, and then I'll introduce her to you" I reminded him.

Crescent didn't seem too excited about the idea of having to wait until he met Vinny but since the day we took a shower together for the first time, the youngest hasn't resisted again, which I can take as an achievement.

The morning process was pretty quick and easy, we took a bath, I helped Crescent put on his clothes and then we headed towards the dining room. I had planned to leave Crescent watching some television while I prepared breakfast, but to my surprise it was already prepared and placed on the table but I couldn't see the Boss anywhere.

'Did he decide to go back to his office after making breakfast?' I questioned looking towards the kitchen thoughtfully.

The boss used to refrain from eating together with us when Horror prepared food for everyone since he had no obligation to eat as he fed on negative feelings.

'I thought we would eat together like last time since Crescent is here. Does he have so much paperwork piled up?' I rambled 'No, even if he had a lot of paperwork that couldn't be enough of a reason not to take a few minutes of rest and have breakfast with his son. What's wrong?' I questioned myself.

"Mom, what are we waiting for to eat breakfast? I want to be with Vinny, let's go quickly!" Crescent demanded, pulling on the sleeve of my jacket to make me hurry up.

'Crescent doesn't seem surprised by this... I'll talk to the boss later,' I determined.

"Okay, let's go have breakfast, our new partner is waiting for us"
