It was a sunny day on the Red Pearl. My (h/c) was blowing softly in the wind as i look out into the sea from the crows nest. It didn't seem like a storm was coming anytime soon. I smile softly and jump down from the fence and land in the middle of the deck, startling some of my crew mates who were soaking up the midday sun.

"Captain! Enjoying the sunny day?"

"Why don't you come and relax with us for a while?" I smile brightly at my twin sharpshooters who are looking at me with expectant glints in their eyes. Laila and Allia, or the Twins as I like to call them, always could be found tinkering with their guns where the sun shone the best. Today, that was on the deck of the ship.

"Sorry girls, but I have to check in with Jenna and see how far we are from the next island."

"Aww! You never want to play with us anymore!" The Twins huff out in annoyance. I laugh and walk over to them and ruffle their silky, long brown hair.

"Another time I promise." They huff again but go back to their guns, knowing not to push their luck. I can show my teeth when they push too far, but they know if they wait for the right time I'll play with them. They're family and I love my family, but as the captain I can't always show my nice side. I got to show them I can be stern when I need to be.

I make my way  to the right side of the deck and walk up the stairs to get to the second floor. I close my eyes and listen to the cooks in the kitchen talking about what to make for lunch while also being able to hear some of the swordsmen and women practicing in the room next room over. I knew if I peaked inside I'd find my right hand woman and Vice Captain, Jade, inside, practically torturing some crew mates in sword training. I chuckle at the thought and continue moving. She was the only one who could keep up with me and it showed in her movements. I tell myself I'll check in with her later and see how she's holding up.

I open my eyes and look ahead and see the two people I was looking for at the helm. Jenna, my navigator, is talking with my helms woman, Faith. "Hey girls. How long until we reach the next island? I'd love to get more supplies on the ship. With the Reverie ending with the decision to abolish the Seven Warlords I want to make a journey out to check on Mihawk and Boa."

"I'd say we're about two hours out. The weather looks like it'll stay clear for the passage, so I don't expect any delays. Not that I'd be worried anyway with how Faith handles the ship. She'd get us out of it in no time!" Jenna gave Faith a big smile and a big pat on the back. Faith returns her gesture with a hearty laugh. Faith turns her gaze away from the sea towards me and gives me an analyzing look, lifting her eyebrow with a sly smile.

"Have you informed Jade of your plans? She'll want to know if you're embarking on another solo adventure." I chuckle nervously and look out towards the sea, watching the sun rays dance along the waves. Practically calling me to them. I close my eyes to break their trance and look back to Faith.

"No, but she was my next stop. There's too much happening that I can't stay calm. The Navy doesn't call me the Informant of the Sea for just sitting on my ass waiting for information to come from the Coos. We all know Morgan can't always put the news he wants out with the Navy breathing down his feathers. I need to know what went on at the Reverie fully, and I need to know it as soon as possible." Faith and Jenna give me an understanding look. Jenna speaks up first.

"We understand." She walks up to me and grabs my hands. She looks down at both oat our conjoined hands and gives a small, reassuring squeeze. "Just be careful. You're our Captain and we'll follow your orders, but you're also our family. Come back to us safe, please." I give her blinding smile and squeezed back, bringing both of our hands up to my chest, letting era her feel my strong beating heart.
