It's been two weeks since you joined the Straw Hats on their journey. You were looking over a map of the Grand Line with Nami, trying to help her decide what island to visit next. "It seems like our supplies are low, even with just the 11 of us." Nami runs hers hand through her hair and sighs.
"It wouldn't be so bad if Luffy didn't have such an insatiable appetite." You pat her softly on the shoulder and give her a reassuring smile. Even though it's only been a few weeks, even you've noticed how big Luffy's appetite really is. Half the time you aren't even sure where it goes. His body might be made of rubber, but it feels like an unsolvable mystery.
"Then let's head for Kasa Island. It's a cute island that lines their streets with colorful umbrellas during their warm seasons. If we're lucky, we might be able to see them! It usually starts and ends with a festival to welcome the warm weather as well, so let's cross our fingers for a festival so Luffy can eat his fill and get his energy out." Nami brightens up with your suggestion and nods.
"Sounds perfect! I'll relay the information to Jimbei so we can start heading on course." She waves you goodbye as she heads out of her navigator room. You wave as well and look around once she closes the door. Franky did an amazing job with this room. You run your hand on the map table and can practically feel the love he put into his work. It fills you with joy and you can't help but let out a soft laugh. Your laughter is quickly cut off by a huge thud right outside the door. Based on the high energy you can feel bellowing off of the person behind it you aren't surprised to see Luffy throwing open the door.
"Didn't Nami already tell you not to come into her workshop room?" Luffy grins and does his signature laugh. He walks in and grabs your hand to pull you out of the room.
"Yeah but I knew you were here! I'm bored, will you play with me?" You smile, unable to find the worlds to deny him. You did once and the pout he gave broke your heart. Since then it's been hard to say no to the boy who reminds you of the sun. So free and full of never ending energy. It's easy to get swept away in the beaming smile and you feed off of energy. You'd be lying if you said you two weren't becoming a dangerous duo.
"Ok Luffy, I'll play with you. But just until lunch! You know I like to have a late afternoon tea time with Robin and I'm not missing it again because you get stuck in a hole you made on the Sunny rough housing too much with Ussop." He pouts but silently agrees to your terms by not telling you no but also not saying yes. It's not often he does, but you aren't afraid to kick him around to get your space with each member of the crew.
You help Nami learn more about navigating the New World and chat with her and Jimbei most mornings after breakfast. You train with Zoro when Luffy isn't dragging you around on the deck (which is almost always so you have to find a new time to work out with Zoro). You help Franky and Ussop work on the Sunny usually right after lunch to patch up anything Luffy might've damaged. If it's not after lunch it's usually after dinner, and then you're working with Franky alone as Ussop works on his new inventions. You drink tea with Robin and read for an hour or so, right when Nami is sun bathing. You try to help Sanji cook dinner once you hear him start looking for pots, pans, and cooking utensils in the kitchen. He normally gets too gushy and often times you have to leave so dinner can be ready on time. After dinner if you're not helping Franky you assist Chopper in his room. You're not much of a medic, but you've patched yourself up on the fly more times than you can count so you love to learn. You often got separated from your crew and hid out until you can move without leaking bodily fluids all over the floor. After helping Chopper you two will usually bathe together and head out on the deck to listen to Brooks music. It's a great way to get the last built up energy out before heading for bed.
Luffy's already running down the stairs and looks up at you once he realized you spaced out and stopped following him. He skids to a stop on the deck and shouts.
"Y/N!!! Get your head out of the clouds!!!" You shake your head to clear your thoughts and look over the railing to see Luffy puffing out his cheeks and crossing his arms in annoyance. You lean on the rail and put your chin on your raised hand.
"I have a great idea."
"REALLY?! WHAT IS IT?!" You smirk and jump over the railing, landing in front of Luffy.
"Why don't I finally help you with Gear 5? That's why I came on this ship, remember?" Luffy tilts his head a few times before straightening it and laughing.
"Nope!" You feel your left eye and hand twitch. Suddenly you feel many eyes staring at you. It causes your hair to stick up and you whip your head around to find most of the crew watching you two.
"You know Y/N, we've trained a few times while I was with the Revolutionary Army, but I don't quite know how you'd really be able to help Luffy with his new power." You look up at Robin before looking around to seeing the crew that's on the deck nod and say similar things to Robin.
"Well, why don't all of you watch then? I'm not shy." You whip our hair off your shoulder and smirk. You walk over and take your red clock off and leave in on the small ledge on the deck.
You walk back over to Luffy and stand a few feet away from him. "I've never actually have done what I'm about to do, so bare with me alright? I just know this is what I'm supposed to do" You hold your left hand out and use your wind to cut a thin strip in your hand, causing it to bleed.
Luffy's eyes widen in concern and he comes bounding over to you. "Y/N! What are you doing?" You grab his right hand and look him in the eyes.
"Do you trust me?" He blinks snd stops. You can tel, he's confused but nods, holding your hand softly. You look down at his hand and flip it over. You mimic your wound on your hand on his, and he sucks in a quick breath. You look back up at him in the eyes.
"Ok, now take a deep breath and try to relax. I'm not sure how... intense this may feel." He takes a deep breath. "When I connect our hands I want you to try to use your Devil Fruit power to reach out and find mine. Once you do I want you to try to put yourself in Gear 5, got it? Try to make it move like Haki. Let it flow through your body and out through the cut and let it navigate itself to mine."
"Got it." You sigh and pray that it all goes well. You take a deep breath and connect your hands together, throwing your Devil Fruit powers out into the wound to try to seek out Luffy's. After a few seconds you feel your body begin to heat up from your power and your eyes close involuntarily. A tingling sensation starts to makes it way from your hand up your body and then, a large amount of energy surges into you. it feels like a river flowing in and out of you. Like your power and Luffy's power and flowing back and forth effortlessly. It becomes overwhelming, and everything goes black.
You open your eyes and see yourself from 12 years ago when you were 7. You're battered up and bleeding from all the pain they caused you. 7 year old you isn't making any sounds as she stays curled up the floor with your dragon wrapped around he shoulders. Your dragon felt so large then, but now it looks so small. Suddenly you hear the sound of crying so loudly in your ears you cover them to try to dampen the noise. You didn't even realize the tears starting to fall from your own eyes.
"Y/N?" A voice cuts through the sound and you slowly look up and turn around to see Luffy with a younger him next time him, leaning over to try to look past you. Little Luffy looks like he's the same age as younger you. "Why are you crying? And why are you bleeding? And what's with the scar on your back?" You suddenly realize he can see everything and with all your might you throw him out.
Next time you open your eyes you realize your hands aren't connected anymore and you're both on the floor. You feel tears rolling down your face and Luffy stares at you. You can tell he's stunned, watching so many emotions pour out of his eyes and he stares at you. You feel a heavy gaze on you and see the whole crew staring, all of them losing their confusion as they start to bro,e worried once they look at you.
Everything feels suffocating.
Before anyone has a chance to speak, you get up and bolt for the ladies bedrooms. You found your room and locked yourself in, unable to face anyone. You lean back against the door and slowly fall down. When you hit the floor you bring your knees up to your chest and let our head rest on your knees. You begin to shake, tears falling but you don't make a sound. It's always been to dangerous to make a sound when you cry. That's when they always came back to finish what they started.
