It's easier for me as the author to write in you but looking back and readying it doesn't make it seem as immersive. So from this chapter on it will be written to fit that better and I will go ack and edit the chapters slowly to read the same way. Enjoy!*
Even with the sun setting, the city was bursting with colors. Blues, slivers, and gold hues from colored lanterns and torches brighten up the heart of the city. The city folk were dressed in their festival attires, smiling and laughing. I look down the stairs with a smile and breath in the cooling air. It helps ground me to the present.
"Are you ready, Red?" The guards walk up to me and the Straw Hats and I nod. I look over at the rest of the group and question them.
"You guys ready?" They all smile and nod in agreement. I turn back to the guards and give them a thumbs up. "We're ready, boys." The guards nod and signal to the others. Lynx and his father walk out of the house in their royal attire surrounded by guards. The guards led us in formation to walk down the stairs.
The city folk start whistling and screaming for the Quinn family. Lynx and Rugi were in front of us and waving as they walked down. We were a few steps behind them watching the scene unfold. It was heart warming to see all of the people so happy for them. I smile and chuckle under my breath. Luffy pokes my arm and tilts his head.
"What are you laughing at?" I grab his forearm and give it a loving squeeze. I give him an eyes closed smile and giggle.
"Nothing much. Just happy everything worked out for the people of Full Moon island. Listen to how happy they are." Luffy looks back up to the crowd and does his usual laugh. He smiles with his eyes closed as well and holds onto his straw hat blowing in the breeze.
"You've done amazing work." I squeeze his arm again and lean my head on his arm slightly. I look out at the crowd and feel a blush rise to my cheeks. I cover my face and try not to give it away.
"Thanks, Luffy." He looks down at you and smiles brightly. You look up and return the smile. He takes his right hand ruffles your h/c hair and pulls you under his arm to hold you to his side.
As the crew and I walk down we pause at the landing. Lynx gives you a smile, but it doesn't reach his eyes. He looks at how close Luffy and I are and looks away to look back at the crowd quickly. I blink in confusion and furrow my eyebrows. I pull out from under Luffy but stick close to him, enjoying the warmth his body gives off as the suns heat leaves with it. Rugi walks to the edge of the platform and clears his throat, the crowd goes quiet.
"Welcome, everyone, to our annual Full Moon Festival! I would like to reintroduce one of our greatest allies, who's jolly robber flows high on top of our house, Red!" I walk forward and bow at the waist, standing up and waving with my left hand. The crowd goes crazy, shouting things like "welcome back, Red!" and "thank you fir everything, Red!", and or just shouting my name. I smile widely and look out at everyone.
"It's amazing to be back and see how amazing you guys are doing! You've all have come a long way!" I shout over the crowd. The crowd gets louder and crazier at my statement and I give a big belly laugh. Rugi smiles and laughs, waving to the crowd to silence them. They go quiet again, but you can feel their excitement buzzing in the air, electrifying it.
"I would like to introduce the crew Red is traveling with right now. They are her friends which means they are out friends, and we hope you show them the ropes for tonight's festival. Please welcome, the Straw Hats!" The crowd grows excited once more and claps and screams. The crew walk up to stand next to me and they all smile widely, waving to the crowd. "Now, let the festival, begin!" Rugi yells and commons full of confetti are blown and the crowd goes wild. They spilt off into brows and the sounds of music begins to fly through the air. Rugi looks over at me and my crew and smiles.
"Please enjoy the festival. Y/N, I would love if you could sing a song once the moon is high enough in the sky." I nod.
"I would love too, thank you for this opportunity Rugi." Lynx walks over to all of us and smiles.
"Why don't we all get going and see what our festival has to offer!"
*Time Skip*
The moon is hit in the sky and the city folk are bouncing off the walls full of excitement, food, and alcohol. I laugh at Luffy's joke and hold onto his arm for stability. I've had my fair share of drinks, losing count after my fourth drink. A pleasant buzz warmed its way in my body. Zoro walks over with another drink in hand and hands it to me, smiling widely.
"Can't let your cup so empty!" I grin and take the full cup of booze, clinking it with his.
"I guess even you can be right at times, Zoro." He laughs and takes a swing of his drink.
"I'm always right."
"You're definitely always lost, moss head." Sanji says, coming up behind him with a scowl. Zoro turns around and gives him a hard stare.
"What did you say swirly brow?" Sanji ignores him and practically floats over to me.
"Here you go Y/N-chan! I brought you some food!" I reach out to grab it but Luffy gets to it first. He holds the cake in his hand and shives it in his mouth.
"Thanks Sanji!" Sanji almost catches on fire with annoyance and starts to let Luffy hear it. Luffy just happily munches on the cake still in his mouth. I laugh loudly and the rest of the Straw Hats are their way over.
"Isnt it about time you start getting ready to sign, Y/N?" Robin asks, holding a glass of wine.
"Ooh! Are you singing Y/N? I haven't heard you sing in a while!" Jimbei exclaims with a happy smile. I nod and look around to try to spot Rugi in the crowd.
"It has been a while, Jimbei, so you'll have to let me know if I've improved!" I let go of Luffy and continue to look around. "Have any if you seen Rugi?"
"Y/N!" A voice calls out from behind me. We all turn to look at see Lynx running over. I smile and walk a few steps towards him.
"Hey Lynx! Have you seen your father?" Lynx runs right into you and practically falls on you. I let out an oof at the collision and hold him up by wrapping my arms around his middle. He giggles and holds onto my shoulders and nuzzles into my neck.
"I was just looking for you!" I pull back and smile, still trying to keep him steady. He smiles down at me with a red flush on his neck and face, must likely from all the alcohol. I don't notice the dark look Luffy has on his face ad continue talking with Lynx.
"Well good, I was just looking for your father. He wants me to dance and sing when the moon was high in the sky. Would you be able to lead me to him?" Lynx nods and holds my right hand with his left hand and grins.
"That's why I was looking for you. Let's get going!" He pulls me along and I turn my head back to call to the Straw Hats before disappearing into the crowd.
"Head to the main platform! I'll see you guys there in a few!"
