It's quiet when you wake up. Moonlight from your window colors your room in a light grey hue. You stand up from your position against the door and feel many of your bones crack, strained from the uncomfortable position they were stuck in for hours.

'I've must've fallen asleep when I finally settled down.' Your stomach growls, demanding your attention. You know you missed lunch and from how quiet the Sunny sounds, you know you missed dinner as well.

You run your hands down your shirt and pants, smoothing out the wrinkles. You run your hand through your hair next to remove any knots before hyping yourself to head out. Your door opens silently and you peak out. It doesn't look like anyone is around on the deck. You tip toe your way to the kitchen and catch a figure sitting on the head of the Sunny out of te corner of your eyes. Your heart clenches and stomach tighten with guilt. You know you need to talk to him. Now might be the best time with everyone else asleep.

You take a deep breath in and calm your nerves. You float up on the wind and make your way to figure sitting as still as a statue. As you get closer you see the straw hat resting on his back as he stares out into the sea. You gently lower yourself down and stand a little behind him. He doesn't look away from the sea but he moves over to give you space next to him, telling you he knows you're here. You sit down next to him and stretch out your legs, leaning back on your arms. A soft, cool breeze flutters by, blowing your hair out of your faces.

"I'm sorry for earlier." He doesn't say anything and continues to stare out at the sea. After what felt like hours he finally turns to you. He looks hurt, sad, confused, and concerned.  You sit up and cross your legs to match him. You look out at the sea, unable to look him in the eyes.

"I know that was overwhelming for you as well. I promise you if I knew that was going to happen I never would have suggested we try it." You clutch your hands in your lap and look down, ashamed. "I broke your trust and I'm sorry for scaring and probably hurting you." His hand grabs yours and he gently holds it, taking it from your lap. You look up at him to see he's turned his body towards you.

"I don't care about that. Why were you hurt and crying when I saw you?" You squeeze his hand and look at your hands, unable to hold his stare full of so much emotion, waiting to drown in them.

"It's a long story. One not many people know." He stays quiet and calm, giving you the time you need if you want to speak. You turn your body to face him as well and close your eyes.

"When I was younger, I was taken away to send a message to my brother. He was becoming a strong pirate, one the World Government wanted to get rid of. They figured if they targeted me they will force him to come save me. They'd capture him on the spot and get rid of him."  You feel his thumb slowly move up and down on your hand, silently grounding and comforting you.

"He didn't find me and free me until many years later. Not until I was 12. The World Government suddenly got an idea. They needed a strong body to test a Devil Fruit they were making. What better then the sibling of a very well known strong pirate. One that would be able to give power and cut power from the four most dangerous Devil Fruits that are named after gods. One of those is yours." His hand tenses and his motion stops. You clench your jaw.

"They wanted a way to protect them from the surge of pirates that flooded the sea after Rogger announced the existence of the One Piece. A way to amplify the powerful Devil Fruits they finally got their hands. My brother stole the one they've been trying to get for 800 years, yours. I think that's why they also targeted him and his family."

"But... Shanks was the one to have my Devil Fruit." You nod, and open your eyes. Luffy's eye widen to the size of saucers, shocked at this news.

"Shanks is my brother. We're far apart in years, so we didn't grow up together. I'm sure he didn't know about me until they captured me. The World Government knows everything, so it was easy for them to find me right away." You cast your eyes to the sea and watch the moon light up the sea, making it look like the stars are dancing on the beam of light hitting the sea.
