It was one year ago, that their paths first crossed. The timeline was a bit different from what was reported and some details changed to keep their meeting and first date private.
Travis was at Arrowhead, gearing up for the upcoming NFL season. Training camp was just around the corner, and he was intent on getting back into his rigorous routine. As he walked through the familiar halls of the stadium toward Coach Reid's office, he could hear the distant sound of Taylor's crew preparing for her show. The energy in the air was palpable, an excitement that even he could feel. Just as he neared the office, Coach appeared, seemingly by chance.
"Kelce!" Coach Reid called out, a wide smile spreading under his famous Big Red moustache.
Travis returned the smile, reaching out for a quick handshake. "Hey, Coach! Was just heading to your office."
Coach nodded, glancing toward the direction of the stadium floor where Taylor's team was hard at work. "Perfect timing. I was just on my way to say hello to Taylor. She's in town for the shows, and I figured I'd check in before it gets too busy. Her dad's an old buddy from Philly, and I've met Taylor a few times over the years. My grandkids are coming to night one of the concert, so I wanted to wish her well before everything kicks off."
Travis's heart jumped at the mention of Taylor. Ever since he was a teenager, she had been his celebrity crush. They were the same age, and though he had always been confident and extroverted, the thought of meeting her in person made him uncharacteristically nervous. Despite his reputation as a loud, charismatic presence who could fill any room, Taylor was different. For years, he had joked with his friends, "If I ever get a shot with Taylor Swift, I'd take it" He always thought he could so much better than those fuckers she has dated in the past.
He had even played along during interviews, famously placing her under the "Kiss" category in a game of "Marry, Kiss or Kill." But that was years ago, and now, the prospect of meeting her made his palms sweat.
"Walk with me, Kid. We can chat on the way," Coach Reid suggested, already moving down the hallway.
Travis followed, trying to calm the monkeys bouncing in his stomach. The sheer scale of the production was mind-blowing, even for someone used to the grandeur of NFL games.
When they reached the backstage area, Coach Reid didn't hesitate. He marched right in, calling out Taylor's name. Travis hung back slightly, there was no turning back now.
"Coach Reid!" Taylor's voice called out warmly, and she appeared from behind a set of speakers. She walked over to greet him with a hug.
Travis watched as they exchanged pleasantries, Coach Reid asking about her dad and sharing stories about his grandkids' excitement for the concert. Taylor was every bit as radiant and sexy as he had imagined...no, even more so. She had an aura that seemed to light up the space, and he was struck by how real and approachable she seemed, despite her superstar status.
Coach Reid suddenly remembered Travis standing just behind him and turned to introduce him. "Oh, and Taylor, I don't think you've met Travis yet. Travis Kelce, tight end for the Chiefs."
Travis stepped forward, his heart pounding, but he managed to keep his voice steady. "Hello, Taylor. It's very nice to meet you."
Taylor turned her attention to him, her eyes widening slightly as she took in his towering 6'5" frame. She immediately noticed that he was nervous, something that seemed almost endearing coming from an NFL star. She smiled , sensing his unease. "The honor's mine, Travis," she replied. "I've heard about you. You and your brother made quite the headlines with that Super Bowl last season. Oh and you were great on SNL"
