"All right, I'm logging off," Brandon's voice came through the monitor, a hint of humor in his tone. The producer waved at the camera of the shared video call. "Good episode, guys. Nice work as always."

"Later, Intern Brandon," Jason said, leaning closer to his mic with a grin as he tossed a mock salute toward the screen.

Travis chuckled softly, his eyes fixed on his own camera as he leaned back in his chair. The silence that followed Brandon's exit felt heavier than usual, the familiar post-podcast energy strangely absent.

"So," Jason said, breaking the quiet. His tone was casual, but his eyes narrowed slightly, studying Travis through the video feed. "How's paradise treating you? Must be rough lounging on beaches all day while the rest of us are freezing our asses off up here."

Travis smirked, though it didn't quite reach his eyes. "Oh yeah, it's been brutal," he said, his tone light but a little forced. "The sun, the sand, the warm breeze, it's exhausting, really."

Jason snorted, shaking his head. "Poor guy. You must be suffering."

Travis rolled his eyes but didn't bite back the way he normally would. Jason caught the slight hesitation, the way his brother's grin faded too quickly.

"Alright," Jason said, leaning closer to his mic. "What's really going on? You've been off. Spill."

Travis hesitated, glancing away from the camera for a moment, the weight of what he wanted to say clearly pressing on him. "I'll tell you more in person," he said finally, his voice quieter than usual. "Taylor and I are flying into KC in a couple of days for her anatomy scan, and then we're heading to Philly for a quick visit. We can talk then."

Jason raised an eyebrow, his frown deepening as he leaned back in his chair. "Alright," he said slowly, closing his notebook with a deliberate thud. "But don't think you're dodging this, bro. I know that look, and it's not just 'beach bum guilt.'"

Travis let out a soft laugh, though there wasn't much humor in it. "I know, Jase. I'll fill you in just have the garage beer ready. Promise."

Jason studied him through the screen for a long moment before nodding. "Alright. But you better bring some damn good barbecue takeout with you when you come up here. That's the price of keeping me in suspense."

Travis's grin was brief but genuine this time. "Deal."

Taylor settled onto the examination table while Travis claimed the stool next to her, his hand finding hers as soon as she lay back. The room was dim, the soft glow of the ultrasound machine the only light as they waited.

Taylor turned her head to him, a mischievous smile tugging at her lips. "So, we're still on for our bet, right?"

Travis chuckled, squeezing her hand. "Hell yeah, we are. And I'll double down."

"You're that confident it's a girl?" Taylor teased, her giggles infectious.

Travis grinned. "Oh, 100%. I'm practiced in the girl-dad world. Certified Girl Uncle, through and through. Wy, Elli, Bennie they're my squad. I wouldn't even know what to do with a boy."

Taylor rolled her eyes, laughing. "It's not like girls and boys are that different, Travis. And, for the record, you've never changed a diaper in your life."

He grinned sheepishly. "True. In that department, I'm going into my rookie season. But hey, as long as you and the baby are healthy, I'm happy either way."

Taylor's laughter softened, her heart swelling at his words. She couldn't help but marvel at him, at his strength, his vulnerability, and the way he cared so deeply. It was moments like this, small and unassuming, that made her fall more and more in love with him.
