I'm sitting in the Kavanaghs kitchen, eating a bowl of cereal as Mrs. Kavanagh busies herself in the kitchen.

I don't know how I got to this point.

The cereal is pretty damn good, though.

The mother is quiet so I don't feel pressured to talk or do anything at all. It only makes me want to talk more.

"I met a girl. I think you know her." I say as I chew.

"Really? What's her name?" She responds back cheerfully.

"Katie."

"Hmmm. She's Shannons friend, isn't she?"

I nod, swallowing my chocolatey pebbles. "Redhead, short, kinda shy.."

"Oooh, yes, Katie! I don't get to talk to her often but she seems very sweet," Mammy K smiles. I tilt my head to try and get a glimpse at what she's up to - I think she might be preparing a snack for the Little Lynchs. "So, are you two good friends now?"

I shrug, looking down at my half empty bowl.

I don't know what we are.

We're not friends, but we're not anything less.

"I mean, we kind of.." I shift around nervously in my seat. "We hook up." I mumble.

Mrs. Kavanagh pauses for a moment before going back to work.

"I think that's great for you, Lizzie. There's no commitment, and since you both are girls you know how to make eachother feel good." She reaches in the cabinet and grabs 2 glasses. She heads to the fridge and fills them up in the water dispenser.

A grin tugs at my lips, begging to be let free, but I stop it by scooping up the cereal with my spoon and chewing on the mouthful.

I feel more confident now. Like there's nothing to be scared of.

I take a minute to think and eat. "Have you ever kissed a girl before, Mrs.?" I ask playfully.

She giggles softly, "Multiple times with one girl, yes. She was a good kisser." She admits honestly and I laugh. "You laugh now but I was just like you! Pretty blonde hair, an attitude, and wild." She winks.

"Does your husband know about this?" I question, beyond amused.

She waves me off as she places the full glasses on the counter, standing directly across from me. "That doesn't matter. What matters is that you feel comfortable saying that you're hooking up with Katie. So say it now - Shout it from the top of your lungs!"

The complete change of topic catches me off guard but I don't hold back.

"I'm hooking up with Katie-"

"Woah, woah, woah! Hold the fuck up." An unfamiliar voice drifts from the staircase as someone walks down. Fuck, I must have been really loud.

Two girls peek into the kitchen before finally stepping in through the door. I have to suppress a groan.

It's Aoife and her Day 1 - Why the hell are they here?

I look away, getting irritated immediately.

"You - Hooking up with our bestfriend? No way in hell." Casey scrutinizes, crossing her arms. Her bracelets jangle from the act. "You're not destroying that girl like you do everything else."

"Katie has a boyfriend." Aoife chimes in, but she isn't as judgy as the other.

"Why do you even care, Aoife? Don't you, I don't know, have a baby to be taking care of?" I drawl.

She smiles sweetly - I can't see it but I can hear it in how she speaks. "Ever heard of co-parenting? You know, when the two parents of the child help take care of their kid?" I glare at her but keep my head down.

"It's okay if you aren't familiar with the concept. It's obvious you aren't."

I jump out of my seat, my nails digging into my palms. "You're a fucking cunt!"

"Girls!" Edel Kavanagh cries. I slowly turn my head to look at her.

"If you're going to fight, then get out of my kitchen and do it outside." She says sternly, putting her hands on her hips.

I'm about to protest but she points a finger at me, "Ah-ah-ah. No. Just move on, Lizzie. Don't let your angry consume you."

"Fuck!" I shout anyway, abandoning my cereal to gather my belongings. I hold my phone so tight in my hand I think I hear a small crack. I shove it in the back pocket of my jeans anyway.

Storming out of the kitchen while holding 2 middle fingers up at Casey and Aoife, I leave the house completely.

I start walking home, not giving a fuck about the distance and how long it'll take me to get there.

I walk angrily for awhile until I pull my phone out again. I take time to examine the screen.

It still works, thankfully. There's two small cracks near the edges of it from my fingers.

I unlock it and see a text from Katie sent 14 minutes ago.

Katie <3: You haven't gotten tired of me yet?

My brows furrow but I type a reply anyway.

Me: No. I think you're beautiful. I stay awake, thinking about YOU, Katie.

Me: Typing...

Me: How about we go to my place this time?
