I'm so excited to see my little redhead that I shaved and sprayed an extra amount of perfume onto my skin.
She told me to come over to her house, but that she'd meet me outside before we go in.
I'm practically walking over there with an extra pep in my step now.
My whole afternoon is free, and I will stay there until the morning despite her protests.
I don't want to be around my mom at all and I already packed a backpack of essentials so there's no going back now.
When I walk up to her house, she opens the door before I can even get to it, and comes rushing out with a big grin.
"Kate!" I exclaim, running up to her and taking her into my arms.
There aren't even words to describe how happy I am right now.
She giggles as she hugs me back, her feet lifting off the ground.
I place her back down on her toes and lean in to kiss her, but her head is turned as she looks around us, so when she turns her head back towards me she literally whips my nose with hers.
I grunt, and she gasps. My nose stings.
"Oh my gosh! Liz- I'm sorry- I-" She brings her hands up, trying to examine my nose. "Are you okay?"
I nod, letting out a light hiss. "Fine," I answer. I let her touch my nose with her fingertips because I know it'll reassure her to see that I'm okay.
When the pain subsides I tilt her head up with my fingers on her chin, giving her a kiss on her lips. I pinch her cheek when I pull away.
"You're not wearing makeup?"
"No. Didn't feel like it today. Plus.. there's something I wanted to talk to you about."
"Okay. Let's head inside then." I put my arm around her shoulder, already walking towards the door.
"No, I wanted to talk to you outside. Out here."
I'm getting worried but reluctantly comply. I go back to standing infront of her, this time holding onto one of my backpack straps.
"Yes..?"
"You're one of my closest friends and have been a better lover than Hugh ever has, and I love you, Lizzie."
Oh my god. Is she asking me to be her girlfriend right now? My stomach fills with butterflies that flutter in anticipation.
Yes, Katie, I'll be yours. Forever and always.
"But we need to end things."
