IN THE FUTURE
"I now pronounce you husband and wife, you may now kiss the bride."
Jisung and Naeun watched their best friends on the podium, proud smiles on their faces. They cheered along with everyone else, making sure to take multiple videos and photos for future memories.
The reception was coming to its end, meaning it was time for the bride to throw the bouquet. Juri stood in front of everyone, a wide smile on her face as she chucked the bouquet behind her.
And to nobody's surprise, Naeun caught it.
She chuckled, turning to Jisung who wrapped an arm around her shoulder. "Looks like I need to wife you up next," he smirked, pressing a kiss to her cheek.
"Yeah, better get to it," Naeun grinned back, holding up her ring-less hand.
The food was being served and the couple sat at their table, simply basking in each other's presence. It was a big day for two important people in their lives and they were just as happy as the newly wed couple were.
Jisung had his arm around the girl's shoulder, her head resting on his own shoulder as they waited for the food. It was a quiet and peaceful moment between the two.
Two kids no older than fifteen caught Jisung's eye. The boy kept making romantic advances toward the girl, while she kept reminding him they were nothing more than friends and going back to scrolling through her phone. He chuckled to himself, his hands brushing through Naeun's hair.
"What's funny?" She asked, lifting her head up to look at him.
"They remind me of us," he said, pointing to the two teens.
Naeun watched with a smile on her face, remembering years back when they had a relationship like this. "I can't believe it's been five years already."
"Time flies, huh?" He sighed, subconsciously pulling her closer.
He couldn't believe five years had already passed. So much had happened during that period and it felt surreal. They moved in together, faced daily challenges together as a couple and strengthened each other.
Jisung loved her more than anything, and he wanted nothing more than to spend the rest of his years with her.
. . .
Thirty-two year old Naeun entered their shared bedroom, hiding something behind her back and a wide smile on her face.
Jisung was sitting on the bed, reading up on news when she entered. He took off his glasses, turning towards her. "What is it, darling?"
She sat down next to her husband, unable to keep the excitement off of her face.
"What, why do you look so happy?" He chuckled, curiously tilting his head. "Come on, tell me already!"
Naeun took a deep breath before speaking up. "So, my period is a few months late and I took a test just to be sure..."
She paused for suspense before pulling out a positive pregnancy test from behind her back. "I'm pregnant, Jisung! We're going to have a baby!"
His jaw dropped, acting on the first instinct he had and pulling her tightly into his arms. "Oh my god! We're going to be parents!"
They shared their moment of happiness together before Naeun spoke up. "Make sure to set up lots of playdates with Juri and Chenle's kid. They need to be best friends and continue the legacy."
Jisung laughed, petting her head. "Alright, darling. The legacy will continue, don't worry," he hugged her tighter.
"I love you so much," she murmured into his chest.
"And I love you so much more, darling. And I already know that you're going to be a great mom to our future kid."
