Chapter 16

Clementine's POV

I woke up again this time feeling the pain even worse than I did the day before. I knew the pain meds had wore off because I could actually move my limbs. I lifted my head slightly to see Violet asleep exactly where she was when I fell asleep on her. She didn't move so she wouldn't hurt or wake me. All I could do was smile at her.

"You're so cute."

I made sure I was whispering because I didn't want to wake her. I could see the eyebags under her eyes. She hasn't been sleeping. I felt awful. If it was her life on the line I wouldn't be able to sleep either but I still hate seeing her not take care of herself. Normally she's the light sleeper and I'm the heavy one however because of how sleep deprived she is, she's out. I could completely move and get off her and I don't think she'd even realize. I decided I was in no place to try and get up by myself so I just laid my head back down on her chest and listened to her heartbeat for a while. I don't know how long passed by, but eventually heard the door creak open. I looked up to see Ruby walking in.

"Hey shug. Oops sorry! Didn't know she was asleep."

Violet yawned and stretched her arm to rub her eyes.

"Hey Ruby."

"Hey Vi, sorry for waking you."

"You're okay. I needed to wake up anyway."

"No, you needed rest."

"I want to be up and here when you're awake and recovering."

"Vi."

"No. Don't even try to sway me Clem."

"Well guys I came in here because I want to see how Clem is doing off the pain meds."

"It hurts. Almost a burning feeling, but I think I can move."

"Do you wanna try shug?"

"Yeah I do. Vi will you help if I need it?"

"Of course Clem."

Violet got up and just like that I was on the bed by myself again.

"I need help getting up. My arm hurts too bad to put any pressure on it."

Vi held out her hand and I grabbed it with my good side. I grabbed her hand as she slowly pulled me closer to her. My legs hit the ground and I stood up slowly so I wouldn't get dizzy. I fully stood up straight and was able to walk almost perfectly.

"Clem you're doing it!"

"My legs don't feel weak at all. My shoulder just burns."

"Let me give you a sling shug then you can come outside with us. I'm sure everyone will be stoked to see you."

"Yeah, let's do it."

Ruby grabbed the sling from the bag she had brought in and started to set my arm in it.

"Wait! First I owe you a shirt. I think I picked a good one."

She turned at Violet and winked which left me confused, but she handed me the shirt which was a black tight material. Violet and Ruby both helped me put it on before the sling went on fully. It was a tight compression shirt that fit me really well. I sat back down as Ruby fully applied the sling and out of the corner of my eye I saw Violet staring at my body. I started to get a little red but tried to hide it. Once the sling was on I stood up and walked over to the mirror that was in the room. I could see how slim I was and the outline of my abs. There wasn't a thing you couldn't see but I looked good and the shirt felt good to move in. Plus my jacket would fit over it perfectly.
