Ruby's POV

I watched as everyone left the room terrified of what was about to happen. It landed on me, that it was my job to save Clementine. I was slowly getting used to being the group's medic because of the first aid classes I took from the nurse but Clem was so close to death I couldn't stop shaking. I've saved people from death before yet this time was different. Normally I had some room where the people I've worked on weren't at the absolute brink of death, and I could take my time. This time was different. I needed to work and fast, one mistake or hesitation and I lose her.

"Relax. I have to breathe. I got this. I got this."

I grabbed my scissors and cut off the shirt that she was wearing.

"Sorry shug, I swear I'll get you a new one. I promise."

I removed her shirt after I cut it to see where the wound was. I cleaned up all the blood but it didn't matter, I felt the more I cleaned the more blood appeared. This was bad, I needed to fix it. I put as much gauze as I could around the area and looked at the entry area.

"Shit. I need someone to hold the hole open."

I called as loud as possible for Louis because I didn't want Violet to see this. She was already upset enough. Louis came sprinting in as fast as possible.

"Louis! I need you to take these and hold open the bullet hole for me so I can remove it."

"Okay I got this."

Louis, looking disgusted, took the tweezers and parted Clem's skin as far as possible.

"Okay Ruby! Hurry please!"

I walked over with another pair of tweezers and dug them into Clementine's skin. I was expecting her to shoot up awake in pain but she had lost so much blood that the pain wasn't waking her up. I kept digging until I felt something solid.

"Got it!"

I pulled out the bullet as fast and as safely as I possibly could.

"Louis, I need clean gauze and tape right now!"

He handed me a new sheet of gauze and I taped it as tight as possible to her shoulder.

"Give me the wrap and slightly lift her."

He handed me the wrap and lifted her just enough that I could wrap it completely around her back and chest multiple times.

"Well that should stop the bleeding."

"Will she live, Ruby?"

"I honestly don't know."

"Let's go tell the others."

I walked out slowly because of how exhausted I was from stress. I opened the dorm building door and everyone looked up at me immediately.

"So??!"

I sighed.
