Chapter 6

Clementines POV

We sat there and kept watching just in case anything were to happen. It was almost pitch black as I looked over to see Violet asleep. I left her there because I knew she needed it and continued to watch by myself. It was peaceful until I heard a snap from the right side of the wall. I stood up and saw one of our traps had gone off but there were no animal tracks around. I stood up and pulled out my bow just in case someone was out there. I walked over to the right side of the platform and saw footprints that looked fresh. I started getting anxious as I looked around and saw nothing. All of a sudden I heard a gasp and saw Violet standing with a figure behind her. I couldn't tell who it was but I saw there was a knife to her throat which immediately pissed me off. Violet looked a mix of scared and pissed and I didn't want to know what she had planned. "Let her go. Now."

The figure laughed as I continued,

"What do you want?"

"Well miss Clementine. I need you to come with me. We have some unfinished business we have to take care of."

I couldn't tell who the voice was so I needed to keep them talking.

"How about you get your knife off her throat first?"

He laughed again and pressed the knife closer causing Violet to gasp and a bit of her skin to be cut. Once I saw the figure draw blood I was pissed. I gave Vi sign and I charged at him. Violet knocked the knife out of his hands and onto the ground as I was still running. She got out of his grip as I swung my fist to his face. He was stunned for a second so I told Violet to go wake the others. She climbed down as me and the mystery figure fought on our tower. I brought him around by the torch that we had and saw a face I never thought I'd see again. David.

"David? I thought you were dead?"

He laughed as he caught his breath enough to answer,

"I lived Clem. My entire family lived thanks to you. But Lily had saved us and I became her right hand man. After what you did to her it's only fair I bring you back. I'm sure Gabe and the other two would love to see you again."

He finished laughing as I punched him again. I saw David was by the edge of the platform that if he fell it would hurt but it wouldn't kill him. He'd land inside our walls which is exactly what I needed. I saw the dorm doors open and all of the group slowly came walking out. I was covered in bruises but I had to keep fighting. David stood up straight as I realized what I needed to do. I ran full speed at David pushing him off the platform but he was too fast and he grabbed my wrist taking me with him. As I felt him hold my wrist I knew it would be exactly what happened with Abel. We both fell off the platform but this time I couldn't land on his body. We both hit the ground hard and I heard bones crack. I was able to lift my head to see David's leg spurting blood and him knocked out. I saw Violet sprinting over as the world got fuzzier and fuzzier. I felt her hand touch my shoulder as the world went dark. Again. I woke up to the smell of blood as I saw I was still on the ground. I looked over and David was still next to me. Louis had tied him to one of the poles we made as Violet held a cold rag on my forehead. I moved my eyes to the sky so she could see I was awake.

"RUBY! SHE'S UP!"

I looked at her and tried to sit up but I couldn't.

"I'm sorry shug. I didn't wanna move you two just in case I would've made something worse."

I nodded as Violet removed the cloth. Louis walked over and kneeled to try and help me sit up. I slowly moved with his help and eventually I was standing.

"Thank you Lou. I don't know what I'd do without you."

I smiled at him as he smiled back,

"You'd probably be dead."

"Thanks Lou,"

I rolled my eyes as he started to laugh. Violet walked up to us after and she grabbed my face. I was still using Louis to stand because my body couldn't do much at the moment.

"Clem. You could've died."

"I know. I know. Once I saw who it was I couldn't help myself. I saved that man and his family and now look."

I started to tear up as Violet's hands were still on my face.

"Clem stop, it's okay. I just. I can't lose you. I'd rather me have gotten hurt than you again." "No. I'd never let that happen and you know that. You did exactly what I asked. So thank you babe."

She slightly smiled at me as I winced in pain.

"I hate to break up this moment but I think Clemsters gotta get some rest."

"Louis. I hate that nickname."

Violet butted in,

"Yeah I agree. The Clemsters gotta sleep."

I rolled my eyes as they both helped me walk slowly to the dorms. Before we could get inside AJ ran in front of me.

"CLEM! Are you okay?!"

He hugged my legs as I patted his head.

"Yes, goofball. I'm okay. I'm a bit tired though so I'm going to go take a nap."

"Alright I'm just glad you're okay. I love you Clem."

"I love you too little man."

He ran off as Violet and Louis continued slowly walking me to my room. Once we got there I was laid down and instantly felt a wave of exhaustion hit. Violet sat down next to me taking off my boots and my hat and making sure the blanket covered me fully.

"Lay with me?"

Violet nodded and laid back as she smirked at me.

"I can't believe you threw yourself off another platform."

"Sorry."

I snickered then winced in pain.

"My ribs are most definitely fucked up."

She snickered this time as I laid my head on her chest and fell asleep on my favorite person.
