Chapter 19

Clementine's POV

I woke up still holding Violet and exhausted from the day before. My shoulder felt a lot better, almost good as new.

"Vi. Wake up pretty."

"Hmm."

"Vi wake up we have stuff to do."

"I'm up."

"Uh huh. Let's go get breakfast from Omar."

"Okay pretty."

We got out of bed and headed out to the courtyard where breakfast was being served.

"About time, sleepy heads."

"Sorry Ruby."

"I'm just messing."

"Let's eat!"

"Yay!"

"We're gonna need more food eventually."

"Yeah I figured. I'll go back out to the train station and search around soon, but for now let's eat."

"Hell yeah."

We were all eating and laughing as we normally do when all of a sudden Willy went serious.

"Guys did you hear that?"

"Hear what?"

All of a sudden it was quiet when we saw something was chucked over the walls.

"What was that?"

"GET DOWN IT'S A GRENADE! THEY FOUND US!"

"WHO?!"

"DELTA."

We all hit the floor in different directions as I heard a voice I didn't think I'd hear again. Javier.

"CLEMENTINE! Come on, you know me! I'm not here to hurt you! If you come with us right now we'll leave everyone else alone!"

"Guys. I'll do it. If it means you can live in peace."

"No way!"

"Absolutely not!"

"Okay then."

"JAVI! I DON'T WANT TO DO THIS BUT I'LL KILL YOU BEFORE I LEAVE THIS PLACE!"

"Suit yourself. Go ahead Gabe."

Another grenade was thrown at the gate blowing it wide open.

"FLIP THE TABLES! LIKE WE DID LAST TIME!"

Everyone flipped the tables over and prepared for a battle. The Delta troops rushed in and set up a line of guards to watch as another carriage with a cage was being brought in. This was so familiar. This is what happened last time but we weren't ready and they were.

I took out my pistol and stood up.

"What the fuck do you want Javi."

"We want more people to join us, because of your stunt we lost so many good people. I like you Clem but if you keep acting like this we won't have a choice but to attack."

"You realize Lily is an awful person. I used to know her. She killed a woman in cold blood for no reason, and she continues to do shit just like that!"

"She's changed, she runs a community, you have to do what you have to do, and we want to protect our home."

"That's what I'm doing. Protecting my home. So what's so wrong with that?"

"Shit. You know what I mean Clem."

"No, I really don't. I thought you were a good person Javi. Guess I was wrong. You've changed and for the worst."

"You don't understand."

"I do. You're a monster."

"Clementine."

"Don't say another word Javi."

"Cle-"

I raised my gun and aimed it right at him.

"Enough."

"Well you made this decision. Round 'em up kill them if you have too. No one stays here alive."

A shot was fired and I dove behind the nearest tables I could.

"You alright Clem?"

"Yeah I'm fine."

I felt my shoulder get yanked back and saw it was one of the Delta soldiers.

"Get the fuck off me!!"

I threw my first into her face, knocking her back with a bloody nose. She jumped at me but I pulled out my pistol and shot her.

"Aria! No! I'll kill you!"

A man came running at me but he was stopped by a bullet from Violet. I watched as someone ran over to Violet and tried to grab the gun from her hands. As she was fighting I sprinted over there and stuck my knife in the woman's throat. I looked up to see all of my friends fighting and some being taken away. They had gotten Ruby and Willy so far and I wasn't going to let them take anymore.

"RETREAT! FIND COVER IN MAIN BUILDING! REGROUP AND ATTACK!"

I saw everyone running towards the main building and I was grateful I got them to listen. Javi was watching the cart as his minions followed us. We got into the piano room and took cover behind whatever we could. We barely had a minute to breathe before we were being attacked again. This time it was molotovs and the place was being lit up in flames.

"Guys we gotta get out! Run and fight for your lives!"

We all came sprinting out of the room at attacking whoever we could. I watched as Aasim got subdued and taken out to the carriage.

"FUCK!"

As I watched I was slammed into the wall by another Delta soldier who I stabbed through the eye killing quickly. I realized everyone had made it back outside and was fighting different soldiers so I went straight for Javi. Halfway there Gabe stepped out in front of him.

"Nuh uh."

"Out of my way Gabe."

"Not gonna happen."

"I have no problem doing what it takes to get my friends back."

"You'll have to get through me first then."

"Okay you asked for it."

I ran at him kicking his knee backwards making him fall from the shift of weight.

"GODDAMNIT!"

He stood up unsteady and came charging for me. I swung and hit him directly in his face which caused him to spit blood. I landed a couple more swings on him before he finally connected with my stomach. I felt the air leave my body and I fell to my knees gasping for air. He kicked me across the face when I was down leaving me dizzy and my nose bloodied. I stood up and got another punch to the gut. I looked up and saw Gabe get knocked out by a pissed off looking Violet. I smiled at her and she smiled back, however I saw her smile quickly turn into fear as I felt the back of a gun hit the back of my head. I hit the ground hard. I saw another woman grab Violet who was distracted by me and shove her into the cart. I couldn't get my thoughts straight, I was dizzy, and my head hurt.

"CLEM!"

"Shut it blondie!"

I felt myself get picked up by someone, someone tall. Javi.

"Put...put me down."

"I'm sorry that it had to be this way Clem. But you made that choice."

He pulled back his fist and punched me directly in the face.

"NO CLEMENTINE!"

I felt his fist hit my face and an intense wave of pain before I felt myself being thrown into the back of the cart. I lost. We were all captured. I lost because we weren't ready at all times. I'm going to burn the Delta from the inside out and bring my friends back to their home. I felt Violet's hand on my back as I finally blacked out from the immense pain.
