Chapter 18

Clementine's POV

I woke up the next morning being held by Violet. I was still laying on my back and she made sure never to move me so she wouldn't hurt me. No matter what is going on she is always making sure I'm okay. She was lying in a really uncomfortable position to be able to hold me but she did it to protect my arm. I grabbed her face with my good hand which caused her eyes to flicker.

"Shit. I didn't mean to wake you Vi."

"Good morning pretty."

"I wish I could lay on my side. I miss being held."

"Soon. But not too soon. I don't want you to get hurt."

"I know Vi. You always care so much. But I feel really good today. Think I can take the sling off?"

"Clem. I don't like that idea, BUT if you seriously feel good enough then do it. It has been days since it happened."

I slowly removed the sling and moved my arm a little. I felt myself wince as it still hurt but not as bad.

"You okay Clem?"

"Yeah. It feels okay. Kinda like every other injury I've had. I think I'm good without the sling. It'll heal faster if I move it. Plus we have things to do."

"Clem."

"I'm fine Vi. Okay?"

I stormed out of the room after that. I don't know why her caring about me was upsetting me. I guess it just made me feel useless, which is my biggest fear. I needed some space, I was over being babied. I walked out of the dorm building into the courtyard where breakfast was being served.

"Hey Clem!"

"Hey Willy."

"No sling?"

"Nope I'm feeling much better."

"Good! I'm glad!"

I smiled at him and walked over to Omar.

"Hey chef."

"Hey Clem."

"Mind if I take my bowl to go? I need to clear my mind."

"For sure. It just finished. Here you go."

"Thanks Omar!"

I took the bowl and walked into the main building of the school. I headed up to the headmasters office which was now where we planned most of our missions at. I reset up the chair at the desk and laid out the map of the surrounding area.

"Marlon has drawn all over this one. I need a new one."

I set down my breakfast on the desk and went searching through the bookshelves. I found another copy of the map which must have been a spare.

"Perfect!"

I sat back down on the desk with a pen and started to map out the new locations that we know of. I was eating my breakfast as I sketched out where everything was. I drew the dock where the boat went down, the barn where James hangs out, where Lily was spotted being saved by soldiers, and the direction that Gabe and David both walked to get back to the Delta.

"I need to find where the Delta is. I need to end them. Okay Clem think. They needed a boat to get there, which meant they weren't close. Did David and Gabe both take smaller boats to get here? I need to go back to the dock. If there were changes they were still coming by boat. Shit I need to get down there."

I grabbed the map and put it in the drawer under the other map so no one could find the new one. I hated not bringing the group into my plans but I needed to figure this out myself right now. I'd bring them back in once I had a good idea of what to do. I finished my breakfast and headed back to the courtyard. I placed my bowl on a table and went to find Louis. I saw Violet sitting by herself eating and I could feel her eyes on me as I walked by. I would talk to her, but I couldn't right now because she'd follow me and I didn't want that. I wanted to do this by myself, so I ignored her gaze. I walked over to the guard tower where Louis was on watch.
