Chapter 15

Clementine's POV

All of a sudden I could feel the burning in my shoulder again and the light on my face. I felt pressure on my hand but I had no strength in my body to lift it. I slowly opened my eyes, the light hitting them causing them to tear up. I felt like I haven't seen sunlight in so long. I tensed my fingers which was the most I could do and I felt the heaviness start to disappear

"Clem?"

I heard Violet's voice. My eyes were only squinted because of how bright it was but I could see a silhouette. I was in a lot of pain and I felt that anyone could tell by the look on my face.

"Oh my god. Oh my god. You're up. You're alive. Clem I can't believe this."

I was just barely able to open my eyes a little further to actually see Violet but I couldn't speak. I tried to get words out but my body was so physically exhausted. So I put all my effort into a sort of half smile that I was able to give.

"Oh my god. RUBY! SHE'S UP! Clem I've missed you so much. I was so worried. You were going to die Clementine. I wouldn't know what to do if you did. You're so strong you pulled through such rough conditions. Ugh I love you."

"Been...shot before. Not....gonna get me...that easy."

"I've needed to hear your voice. I missed it, but please don't stress yourself. I just got you back."

I fully smiled this time and shot a big one back. I watched her just stare at me with love and happiness I've never felt before. Ruby running in broke me from my trance of watching Violet. I noticed Louis was right behind her.

"Hey Clemmy-clue!"

I rolled my eyes at him.

"Wow, just woke up and already giving me attitude. I'm hurt."

He faked getting upset which earned him a punch in the arm from Vi.

"Ow! What was that for?"

"This isn't about you right now. Clem just woke up so be quiet idiot."

"Wow attitude from you as well."

Ruby giggled.

"Okay you two enough. Move so I can check on Clem."

She pushed through the two fighting and came over to me.

"How you feelin shug?"

"Not...great."

"Aw I'm sorry. Would you like any water darlin?"

I nodded my head and she brought out a bottle from her bag.

"Here you sound like you need it."

"Thanks."

I went to reach my hand up for it but I could barely move it.

"Here I got it."

She tipped the bottle so I could drink the water without having to move at all.

"We gave you a lot of pain meds which could be why your body feels so heavy."

"Right."

"How does talking feel now shug?"

"Better. Still feel heavy and slow."

"Okay that's better than nothin. You're not bleeding as much anymore."

"That's good...right?"

"Very. You were really pale when everything went down and now you're even regaining some color. Would you mind if I felt your forehead?"
