A New World ~ Violentine

Chapter 5

Clementine's POV

I killed one walker as another snuck up behind me. It tackled me but I was able to kick him off. I stabbed him in the head and stood up to continue fighting off the herd. After a lot of fighting there were only a couple of walkers left that I killed as I ran up to the group. I heard more zombies in the woods so we had to go.

"Let's go! Now! Run!"

The group turned and ran in front of me as I sprinted behind them. I killed two more walkers during the run back, and I saw more appearing at the back of the forest line. I was close to the school and had an idea, "WILLY! START CLOSING THE GATE!"

I screamed as I continued sprinting. I saw him start to close the doors as the group looked into the forest in terror. In order for this plan to work I needed to speed up, so even though I was exhausted and could barely breathe I moved faster. The gate was almost closed and the walkers were moving in so I had to be quiet. I ran through the small opening and rolled into the courtyard just as Willy shut the gate. I stayed on the ground covered in blood and out of breath. I struggled to catch my breath as I started to sit up. I felt someone wrap their arms around me as I opened my eyes. I saw Violet,

"Clem. That was too fucking close. I..shit. Thank you."

The rest of the group joined in on the hug as I was still trying to catch my breath.

"It..it was nothing. It was the only way to make sure you guys would be safe."

I finally spit out. I looked around and they were all covered in blood but my clothes were the worst.

"Okay I want two people at least on watch tonight. I'll take one of the later shifts if you all want."

The group nodded and decided to partner up. AJ and Louis took the first shift and headed up to the tower. I finally got up and started to walk over to the graveyard where there was a rock I could use to climb over the wall. I moved the rock as I felt someone tug my wrist turning me around. I turned around to see Violet as she grabbed my face and kissed me. I was shocked at first but then kissed back. We eventually pulled away and she put her forehead on mine. "Where are you going?"

"Oh I was gonna go out to the lake and clean up. I'm gross."

She nodded,

"Then I'm coming with."

"Oh.."

"No ohs Clem. After almost losing you to that stunt I'm coming with you."

I nodded and hopped on the rock and over the wall, and Violet followed after. We walked to the lake hand in hand but in silence. It wasn't awkward, it was nice. I just enjoyed being in her presence and I think she felt the same. We made it to the lake and I jumped in, washing my clothes and self at the same time. Vi followed suit and did the same. After about 10 minutes of washing out blood we got out and headed back to the school. I lifted her up and she climbed to the top of the wall where she held her hand out for me. She lifted me up and helped me climb up. We climbed down with help from the rock and then walked back into the courtyard. We came back just as it was time to switch shifts. I saw Ruby and Aasim walking and talking together on their way to the watchtower. I laughed to myself knowing that there has always been something going on with those two.

"What are you snickering about?"

I turned and saw Vi watching me.

"Oh nothing."

"Uh huh."

I smiled at her and she smiled back. I made my way to the main building and I went up to the office. I pulled out the map and started looking at possible areas where the delta would be. I started marking out possible paths that Lily and her minions could've taken. As I was marking the map someone walked in and I looked up to see Louis.
