Violet's POV
After that one time that Clem had grabbed my hand she hasn't woken or showed any signs of movement since.
"Ruby, is she going to be okay?"
"I want to say yes, but she's showing no signs of improvement so honestly, I have no idea."
"Fuck."
I watched as Ruby changed her bandages then she nodded to me and left for the night.
"Just you and me now Clem."
I looked at her face, still pale and a slight expression of pain covering it.
"I would do anything to help you right now, and I'd do anything to make you wake up. We're going to get those guys Clem. You're going to heal up and we're gonna get 'em. We'll kill them all, and anyone else who tries to fuck with us. God I sound like you. You need to come back so you can be giving thes talks. You're way better at them."
I smiled to myself and put my hand on her cheek. Her face was still cold. I pulled up a chair next to her bed, grabbed her hand, and laid my face on it.
"Goodnight Clem. I love you. Come back to me soon please. I can't do any of this without you."
I woke up the next morning still asleep on Clem's hand. Ruby was entering the room as I looked over.
"Shit, sorry. Didn't mean to wake ya. Just coming to check on her bandages."
She got closer and I moved back so she could work.
"Good, less blood, and she's gaining back color. Your girl's a fighter Vi."
All I could do was smile.
"I know."
Ruby smiled back at me while changing the bandages.
"Well that should be the last time she needs them changed. We're all outside fixing everything that needs to be plus we're reinforcing the walls and making better defense. This way no one can sneak in anymore. You're welcome to come join."
"Thanks Ruby. I will. Once Clem wakes up. I have a gut feeling that it will be soon."
"Okay shug. I'll come get you for lunch if she isn't up before then."
"Thank you."
Ruby walked out and I was left alone with Clem again. I grabbed her hand and laid my head on it almost instantly falling back asleep. Not realizing how tired I still was.
