"We can tear down this town
In the dark of the night."

Ashton slammed his tray down onto the metal table, it made a bang echo around the cafeteria. If there wasn't already loud chatter in the room I'm pretty sure everyone would've heard Ashton. That would've been embarrassing if he were to have made a scene.

Calum slunk down into a chair whilst staring at the girl in the back corner. She sat alone, by the book I had seen her reading I knew it was Beth. How hadn't I - or any of the boys - noticed that Calum was infatuated with her?

"What? Your new hair color isn't bringing you down is it Mikey?" Ashton taunted in a way that it sounded as if he were speaking to a small child.

Michael furrowed his eyebrows and shoved a slice of pepperoni in his mouth.

I smacked Ashton over the head with the flat of my palm. He instantly looked insulted, as if he wasn't the one insulting and teasing Michael a moment ago.

"What?!" Ashton whined.

It was my turn to furrow my eyebrows. "You know what! Stop giving him shït Ash. He's had enough today."

Ashton furrowed his eyebrows, looking slightly worried towards Michael. "Who from?"

"Everyone," I sighed at my brother. Hoping he got the sign to shut up.

Ashton flipped some hair out of his hazel eyes, it had grown quite long. His brown hair was beginning to show some blonde strands. My phone buzzed and I pulled it out of my bag. Luke's name and a text appeared.

(Luke)

Lucy: I'm outside, I'm taking you out for dinner

Ashlee: what?

Lucy: let's go!

I stood up and placed my phone back inside the safety of my bag. "I have to go guys," I pushed my tray over to Michael. He can have my pizza.

Calum pouted. "Why?"

I glanced down at Michael, he was drawing patterns on the table with the cheese off of a slice of pizza. His head was held in his left hand as he watched the pizza with drooping eyelids. I assured myself he'd be fine, Michael was a trooper.

"I'm going to dinner with a friend."

Calum raised a thick eyebrow. "So...a date?"

"No."

"You sure? Sounds like a date to me."

"No Calum."

"It's definitely a date."

I rolled my eyes. Just as I had passed through the cafeteria doors I heard Calum yelling out a last comment. "Tell your date I said hi!"

I rolled my eyes, that boy...

Luke dipped a fry in the red condiment known as 'ketchup'. The diner we were in was quite empty, it was out of town. I had suspected he was driving me out to a quiet place so he could murder me. The images Calum had put in my head of Luke choking me still lingered.

The place was lit up with the red glow that came from the neon strip of light that traveled around the main counter. The other source of lighting was from the overhead LED lights that illuminated the rest of the room.

The booths we had sat in were against the window. I could see the sun slowly slipping behind the high rise as the sky turned dark.

I took a fry for myself, the conversation was very little and it was just a little awkward.
